I'd just like to say I love this comic, and it's started me doodling / practising drawing again more often. You have some fantastic art in there! And I looove all the symbols everywhere, and the ancient myths, the science vs nature, the humour, the atmosphere of the comic, everything And of course, it's been said before, but I love that antimony's scar is only visible in the spirit-scenes. It's great can't wait to order the book!

Tom, I am impressed by the brilliance you constantly display through every aspect of your comic, from the little details and easily-overlooked jokes to the sweeping artistry and engaging story. Also, you leave me deeply envious of Andrew Smith, for which I have penned a song in tribute to your magnificent comic:
My brother's the musician so if we ever make the lyrics into something that we can share with the community I'll send a link.

Let me add my name to the list of people congratulating you on your award. Your artwork and storytelling is the best I have ever seen in the world of Webcomics, and has inspired me to start drawing more. I would also like to thank you for maintaining this forum, which has added a valuable dimension to the Gunnerkrigg Court and is wonderful as a place to connect to other lovers of the comic. I know it hasn't always been easy to maintain a free public space on the internet, and I want to thank you for your patience in dealing with issues as they come up.

Dear Tom (and everyone else),
This is what I love about GC: I love how everyone is a 3D character. I love the mix of cultures. I love how seamlessly the mythology is incorporated. I love how complex the story is. I love the hints and clues all through the pages that you can only catch later. I love the art. I love that I learn things from it and then use them in my daily life.
So pretty much everything about it, really.

Dear Tom,
I think you've struck an excellent balance between advancing the plot, developing the characters, and revealing the secrets and history of your universe. In this you've done a better job than some other very talented and successful webcomic storytellers on the web, including the one through which I discovered your work.
I believe the secret of your success lies in this balance, and as long as you maintain it carefully, Gunnerkrigg Court will never disappoint us.
Sincerely, Jonathan

I loved the ustream you did with all the characters from other webcomics, thanks for spending so much time drawing for everyone and for the swanky final image which is now my desktop wallpaper.

Tom: I've been on a comics bender lately, expanding the webcomics I read regularly and reading other classics like Sandman and Watchmen, and I honestly think yours is the best. The art might not have started perfect, and there've been minor plot inconsistencies, nobody's perfect, but what it has turned into has outshone any other comic I've ever read. You've inspired me to draw more, to try to get to a reasonable standard, and to read more, and generally try to expand my mind and make myself a better person. You and your comic are awesome.
When I get my uni loan, I'm going to donate some, but I'm sure everyone here would love it if you spread the merch out into t-shirts and other stuff, via TopatoCo or somewhere in the UK. I'm sure time would be the main factor in that, not just in finding a printer to draw up an agreement with, but regularly tending to a store (posting them out or drawing new designs or w/e), but as a means of revenue it seems to go well for other webcomics authors. (Maybe t-shirts are cheaper in the US.) You could also look into pure digital merch, as that needs minimal input from you (money or time), but you can sell as many as people want. This runs into problems with "premium" systems, though, as well as piracy.
If your goal is to be supported by the comic, maybe now's the time to look for a business manager and try the Penny Arcade model. Just make sure they know they're working for free until money starts coming in XD
Eh, I can't imagine this post will have much of an effect on you, but maybe it'll help you think of something better. Yay reciprocation. Please keep up the good work.

I really love the background "gags" you do, like the "Hello Kat" in today's sketch, or the "Get your hands off me" comment by the laser cow earlier. It makes the comic so much more fun to read without turning the story into a complete comedy.

GC was given a nod in this picture credited to web cartoonist Dave Shabet. It is a group of webcomic characters running through a spooky woods in the 1920s; if you look carefully you can find Antimony in the middle row second from right. There is some more info about this picture and the other characters where I found the image, The Intrepid Girlbot webcomic site, but I am unable to provide a durable link. It was apparently posted there June 28th of this year so I apologize if this has been announced to the forum before.

Seems like your comic is the best out there in the internets.
By far my favorite anyway. I introduced as many people to GC as possible, cause it's so awsome to talk about hidden clues, the deep characters and of course guess the outcome of the story.
I never did that in any other comic.

I am consistently impressed by your willingness to actually research what you are using in the comic and treat it in a respectful and responsible manner. That may sound like a small or "duh" compliment, but I have read a great many things by a great many authors, and I am regularly disappointed when I know something in a story is incorrect, even when it's not within my primary realm and it is within the author's. (Neil Gaiman is regularly guilty of this, like as was the case for his long-tailed Smilodons.) I have never seen anything I would consider an error in your work; it is always well plotted and intricately crafted. It's a major inspiration.

Hey, Mr. Siddell:
Apropos of some of the other threads springing up around here in the last couple of days, thank you for introducing me to Kate Rusby. I had never heard of her before reading this comic, and then I saw a thread on this forum a long time ago mentioning the connection and looked her up. Quality stuff!

Tom, not been on the forums for a long time. Not logged in. But came on to tell you thine plot progression is wonderful and not just for whats shown but how its being revealed.
Also, i was wondering. I play World and Warcraft and theres an expansion to it coming up. One of the details about this expansion is that a new race becomes available called Worgen. Now these happen to be Wolf like beings [similar to the werewolf concept actually].
When the expansion releases, ill be creating a Worgen Druid. I was wondering if i may have thine blessing [thine permission] to name him Ysengrin?
I ussually go with a word for eternal, eternity or celestial [such as Himmlisch, Hemel, Ikuinen] but this seems to fit more.

If Tom doesn't mind, you can delete and recreate the character as a worgen when cata releases. I tried to make a mage named Surma... name was already taken. /pout

I have to say that Book 3 seems like the best one yet. The chapters all tied together very well, and all the major plot arcs were revealed in the first chapter and have reached some form of resolution. So far, I'm an immensely satisfied reader.

Dear Tom,
Sorry for making fun of your comic so often and drawing pictures of your characters looking stupid (see right.) The jokes just mean I love you. (But not in a creepy way.)
Hugs and kisses (but again, not the creepy sort.) ~ basser
