Once, many years ago, back when I was still young, we used to play the video game "Decathlon" on the C64. At least this one game was not relaxing at all. Do you mean Track and Field? I figure that was responsible for many broken joysticks.

Yep, Paz knows her well. Even if she didn't, she could always ask a little birdie for advice.

This is really funny, considering all the angst in the previous thread. I could have told the angst-ers that it was needless, but it was fun to watch them angst-ing over PazKat and what they would be doing next. A note to the Angst-ers: This is Gunnerkrigg Court, not Rule 34. LAUGHING ON LINE

Granted, Kat played Metal Gear Solid V in a bonus comic, so that's probably not the issue. XP Are those bonus comics part of cannon? Because her and the gang playing those games and watching princess mononoke just raises further questions. Which questions?

Mostly about the timeline, but also about popular culture in the school. Did Kat play those games new? Do they have other court only pop culture things like TV shows or is it just a video game developer? Just little what kind of Earth is this set in questions, entirely pointless outside of wondering about the world of GC, which is typically a very detailed science/fantasy set in our world but occasionally also seems to be in joke reality. The world kinda changes from being very "real" to "meta" kinda willynilly. I wouldn't say it bugs me, but I do like when a comic sticks in one direction or another.

I had a similar feeling about the scene where Andrew tells the octopus it should be living in the sea rather than floating around in the air.

I think that's the general danger of including references to real-life media in a fictional story, though it doesn't usually bother me when Gunnerkrigg does it. I suppose the only time I raised a slight eyebrow about the "universe consistency" thing was when the gang watched Princess Mononoke, mostly because Ghibli-esque fantasy stuff already exists in the GC universe, which kind of made me wonder if a movie like Princess Mononoke would be quite as impressive or necessary in that context. Though I guess that stuff might not be common knowledge outside the Court, and that's super nitpicky besides. XP
