So it seems like Annie, Parley, and Smitty are uncomfortable about Jeanne being gone?
I wonder if it's noticeable when crossing the bridge. The absence of an accustomed etheric pressure.
I wonder if the Court has detected it. We know Coyote is aware.

Ah, nothing like walking with friends past the place where you've previously risked your lives, and at least one of whom the risk was particularly high.

There is a sense of anti-climax in this page.

...That's a loooong bridge for such an awkward silence.

I'm thinking Annie's been mulling over some perceived sense of acting as an authoritarian around her friends, and doesn't know how to approach the subject. Let's not forget that just below that bridge, Smitty got stabbed. What's more, Parley and Smitty may think they're responsible for Annie having given up her autonomy to work for the psychopomps.
This isn't any kind of judgment on where guilt actually lies, but the underlying anxieties of the characters and how they see themselves/others. Annie's self-esteem (realistically) shouldn't be able to survive the constant whirlwind of emotional trauma and neglect from the people in her life who should be role models.

I am probably reading more into the silence than Tom intended, but in panel 5 it looks like Annie needs a Kat shoulder to cry on.

There's just something a little foreboding now about leaving the forest (which has become comfortable) to go back to the cold confines of the Court. I suspect that once back, given that there is a semblance of a support group there, that they'll become reacclimated.

I have some more thoughts. -1821 seems to me like an echo of this page. -I'm surprised at everyone's obvious avoidance of the subject of what happened below the bridge. There seems to me to be no real reason why they'd avoid talking about Jeanne or feel particularly awkward about it. Freeing her was a goal they've been aiming for for perhaps years, and one they didn't particularly feel optimistic about achieving. Why wouldn't they want to discuss it? -On that note, I'm less surprised about Annie and Andrew's silence than Parley's. Both the younger ones are more reserved, but Parley has never been known to shut up. Surely she'd say something. Maybe she has grown more reserved since her training with Eglamore, but I still think it's a little out of character for her not to say something. Even something awkward and inappropriate like, "Nice day to spar with an angry ghost, hmm?" while nudging Smitty with this look on her face. Or something. I don't know. I just think it's odd.

i don't think it's jeanne they don't want to discuss, i think it's smitty's very near death experience... very emotional and traumatic, and they probably haven't really processed it cause they can't* talk to anyone else at the court about it
*at least annie seems hesitant to tell anyone about jeanne and what they were doing

what, no Jimmy Jims? I wonder if they need to ask for permission from the Court to go to the forest anymore or if they can just go as long as Parley is there.

I wonder whether the backgrounds of panels 3, 4 and 5 (mostly green for Parley, 3/4 green for Andrew, only white and blue for Annie) signify something, or if they simply indicate that time passes between them where the group gets away from the forest and onto the bridge.

Even if we don't see anyone I suspect when folks return from the forest they are watched carefully. I almost expect to see a "Tich-tick" bird watching them from a lamp.

I'm betting Red's words are weighing on Annie. She's no more responsible for what happened to Smitty than anyone else, but she does have some responsibility, and being alone with them could be summoning a guilty feeling. Smitty and Parley might be thinking of a way to bring up Annie's fate with the psychopomps. They may feel as responsible as Annie might.
Annie. If you're trying to think of a way to say "I'm sorry we got you shanked", Hallmark has a wonderful card for that. I have no idea where my Grandma bought it, though.

(at least as far as anja knows...) but i wouldn't be surprised if the court was carefully monitoring the comings and goings of the forest

Fun Fact: today is the Day of Silence here in the U.S., a day when many people choose to stay silent for the whole day to spread awareness of the LGTBQ people that have been bullied and harassed into silence. I'm honestly not sure if this is a coincidence or not, since I don't think they do this in the UK.

Now that I think about it, it would be a pretty big coincidence if today's pointedly silent page wasn't related to the Day of Silence. I'd like to think it is, anyway. Although it would take months of planning ahead on Tom's part.

The final page of the chapter where Jeanne was freed. Ahh, thank you! Of course, the nose! ...Well, now I really wonder about the timing of his "gifts." Come to think of it, it's been a while since we've seen a Tic-Toc bird. I'd almost forgotten about their mystery, and it's one I'm really intrigued by.

It's not awkward silence, the group simply notices the blinding light creature across the bridge in panel 2 and knows not to look at or speak to it for their safety.

Those three panels give the initial impression that Annie is looking worriedly at Parley and Smitty. Looking more closely at the last panel, however, I realise they're on Annie's left, and that she's looking to her right over the bridge.

I have no idea what the characters are thinking in-universe, but from the Doylist perspective, I'm betting we will soon find out what happens when the Court's grotesque-but-terrifyingly-effective protective measures are gone.

Makes sense to me. Probably some trauma-related awkwardness; possibly some resentment. Annie's always been comfortable around death and danger and creepy ghosts, the others less so. They may be feeling a bit of the Wednesday Addams creep.
Chapter isn't over yet, though. Wonder if we'll see an actual exchange with them, or at least a scene with Kat when they get back. So many unanswered questions.

Looking more closely at the last panel, however, I realise they're on Annie's left, and that she's looking to her right over the bridge. Indeed, Smitty and Parley look away from the river and away from each other, as if they were avoiding thinking about what transpired down there. Meanwhile, Annie looks down (both downwards and depressed) and away from the couple. I believe Annie dealt with death in a more easygoing way before, and the fact one of her friends almost died for doing something she requested from him has a deeper impact than her mother's death. It should have had an impact akin to Rey telling her Surma died for Annie, as we all know the fallout from that.
