Zing!
So, to change topics, then, does Mort haunt a particular set of rooms? They seem to always meet him near the Dulce et Decorum sign. How far can he stray from that corridor?

Searched through the threads first so I'm pretty sure this one hasn't been asked yet:
Tom, what's your position on people role playing your characters online? I've run across some people interested in the idea (and was considering it myself), but I can also understand why you wouldn't want people to do that (especially with a developing storyline) and want to pass on your final word to said people.

I don't mind if people want to try doing a roleplaying game based on the comic or something like that. What I wouldn't like to see, however, was people making Myspace pages or Twitter accounts or stuff like that as the characters. Roleplaying as the characters also wouldn't be allowed on this forum.

So for a LiveJournal game like DramaDramaDuck, where the characters have journals but it's contained to the game, that'd be a nay?

I'm sure it has been asked before, but in keeping with my suggestion in a certain other thread, I felt it prudent to ask:
Tom, what accents do the characters with speaking roles have? And are there any famous personalities you would compare some characters' voices to?

And are there any famous personalities you would compare some characters' voices to? Most of the characters are english, unless otherwise noted. For the sake of the reader voice project thread it might be better to keep the voices natural, rather than forcing an accent. While each of the characters have a specific voice in my head, it would be silly for me to try and outline each one of them in the hopes that they would be matched. For example, Annie, Zimmy, Parley and Eglamore are all English, but they don't come from London, nor do they speak like Peter O'toole. Coyote is American, if that helps. Native, technically, but what the hey.

How is it decided which souls will become ghosts and which simply move on? What's the distinction between ghosts who work in an official capacity (like Mort) and ones who are just there (like Jeanne)?

I haven't browsed through the entire thread, so I apologize in advance if this has already been asked-
It seems like most robotic creatures in GC are somewhat biotic. Not in the traditional sense, because there are clearly no organic parts to any of them (...uh, yet), but some of them seem to have qualities beyond that of a completely mechanical build.
The tic-toc bird that got crushed by Annie was later revealed to be "rooting" itself into the ground. On top of that, Kat still has no damn idea how the S-class bots (or, rather, any of them) work, considering there's no circuit work or anything inside of them.
I'm guessing this simply ties into the ethereal/technology aspect of the comic, but is there more to the way the robots work than meets the eye?

The robots running around the Court are all traditional nuts and bolts, whereas the older models Kat and Annie found in chapter 18 were made through some other method Kat is unfamiliar with. The Tic Tocs are made with Court technology that Annie and Kat have not really encountered yet.

I gots some questions.
If you ever got the chance to work on comics (whether Gunnerkrigg or something else) full-time, would you do it?
And related to that, do you think you'd ever draw a comic that someone else had written if you were being paid for it?

1, In a heartbeat.
2, Would I want to? Yes. Do I think I would be able to? Unknown.

given the choice (though, the world is based on choices), which company would you submit your comic to?
or would you try to publish it privately if you could?

Wow, this thread sure is picking up speed, must be a popular guy, that Tom. www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=279So, if the main members of the court (Anja, Don, Jones; I call them that because they're at least associated with the headmaster, but I get the distinct feeling I'd be proven wrong with the details) are unaware of where the birds, made from their technology, come from, does that mean there are people in the court who do not report to anyone else, ie underground groups working in secret on something that the court itself has no hand in? Would they be labeled as criminals, or merely hermits? Also, I'm only guessing there would also be more than one group, or at least more than one person; it wouldn't happen to be just one guy working from his shed or something, would it? www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=50Did the court have more people than it does now? www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=46Did Surma make this doll to look like Reynard?

1, There is plenty of space in the Court for people to get together unnoticed if they wished.
2, No, not really.
3, No, Renard was a fox, and the doll is a wolf. Antimony (the element) is sometimes represented by a white wolf.

Man, you thought of everything About the symbolism in the comic, do you do research into the character's names and such specifically to put it in the comic, or do you just draw on information you already had when you named them?

Both, really. I looked up Annie's name for a while before deciding on it.

Did you have any other options for characters' names? If you did, what were they?
Also, are blinker stones always red? Are there other coloured blinker stones which do different things?

1, No, I don't think had other names in mind. Though I've probably long forgotten them if I did.
2, Blinker stones are all the same colour.

Was the court built for the use of a larger number of people than currently reside there? Was it built that big or was it added to over time? Is there a chapter you are most proud of, or one that you enjoyed drawing the most? Does this comic keep you sane?

Do you consider the Headmaster to be a personification of or metaphor for the current state and function of the Court? Because I'm kinda getting that vibe from him.

Does this comic keep you sane? 1, It wasn't built for a specific amount of people. 2, It has grown over time. 3, I think I liked Coyote's chapter (20) most. There are a few I like for different reasons. 4, The comic is my only escape.

Is the Headmaster usually as bored as he was when we saw him?
We know that Annie can see psychopomps when they come for souls, but can she also see the souls they're coming for when they're not staying behind like the boy in the hospital? For example, can she see the souls of bugs Ketrak comes for?
Does Ketrak come for arachnids too or only insects?

Does the court have to clear more forest (including Gillitie Wood) when it wants to expand? Or does it have a whole area to itself? Do the Annan waters connect to the reservoir seen in Chapter 19? Did Annie meet Ketrak in Good Hope?

Okay, I'm not answering any more questions about Reynardine's body snatching powers. All you need to know about that particular power is in the comic. I hope you realize just how appropriate this is. Etheric tenat indeed.
