1, Annie ight know how to write her name or say a few words, but that's about it. 2, Jones knows Egyptian, yeah. 4, No, camping would not be allowed in the forest. 5, It's pronounced almost like "guilty" but with an extra "i" in there. Like Gil-ity

Jones knows Egyptian? Tom, did you write her to be the most awesome person EVER?
Also, the camping question and subsequent answer makes me curious about just where the students ARE going to go camping.

Does the Court have an anthem, or any musical representation for great occasions ? If so, what is it ?

Does Ketrak come from a particular culture, or did you create him?

That's cool, I've been doing some thinking about pyschopomps, after they were briefly mentioned in a class. I love the idea of psychopomps for everyone and everything. And people have been writing down made up stuff since we apes learnt to write

Though Ketrak's the only Guide we've met in the comic to date whom Tom created. (Though I didn't know about Muut or Mathilda before they showed up. I did know about Moddey Dhoo, though.)

Tom, I'm having some trouble with today's comic. Does jargon jargon technical term confusing acronym jargon? Or is it more like jargon with jargon apparently everyday term used in confusing context?

Tom, first time post here, just wanted to say i love your comic it's really enthralling i've read it back to front and side to side I just wanted to ask two questions (unless it gives away the plot like you have said) 1. Is the girl in the bottom right of the photo Jones as a kid? www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=103and 2. Is it possible that an android can grow old in the gunnerkrigg universe? Also if these questions have already been asked i apologise Keep up the good work!

Hey Tom,
Do you do all the site, forum and other things surrounding the comic yourself or do you have help?
For that matter, I don't know if this has been asked before, but are you still single? (for all the fangirls out there =p)

(for all the fangirls out there =p) 1, It's just me doing the comments and forum and site stuff, that's why comments are slow to show up sometimes. My2k is also an admin here to incase anyone posts anything inappropriate, but she rarely (if ever) has to do anything because people here are not morons. 2, Irrelevant, but yes.

1, Yes she does. 2, He can use as many swords as he likes, but he doesn't do that all at the same time. He uses whatever is appropriate for the situation. 3, That was just the first time. 4, Yes. 5, Depends which kids.

I would think the kids that are the focus of the chapter would also be the focus of the question, but now I'm rather intrigued... Are there other kids that know about the power station and are planning to break into it that you haven't told us about? Or are you just mentally grouping the kids into sperate groups? (I meant any or all out of Annie, Kat, Margo, Janet, John, Matt, Jack, Will, Zimmy, or Gamma)

Hi Tom, After rereading some chapters this question popped into my head: if a movie adaptation of GC was made, would you rather it be live action or 2D animation? (I myself think 2D would be spectacular.) I have no idea if you've already answered this or not, but if you could re-answer it for my sake, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks!

I would prefer an animation, however 2D animated films are pretty much dead now.

It's not specifically a gladius, but it is a straight bladed, double edged shortsword.

In my opinion, 3D would kill the whole thing. I'd rather see Gunnerkrigg Court the Live Action Film than to have it be in 3D animation.

I think oly 2D would suit it, even with fantastic CGI for the creatures live action or some 3D thing would be pretty weird. How exactly would you create Coyote, with red outlines? He's always seemed less of an actuall biological creature than a painting on a wall to me. Though seeing the freaky eyeless clown in live action would be pretty damn cool.
Something i've been wondering about for a few days: do you have any idea of what Ketrak looks like, or is it just some unspecified arthropod horror to you aswell? I've been going over about 50 trains of Ketrak-related thought, and they just become more convoluted the more i think about them.

As far as I am concerned, the only other media Gunnerkrigg Court could be done justice in is a traditionally animated television mini-series. It can't be done any other way without cutting stuff out. I think I speak for all of us when I say nothing should be cut out of the narrative. Because no matter what way to do it, some parts of the comic just don't lend themselves to a 2-hour film. And having it in CGI or live-action would just not work.

I've been going over about 50 trains of Ketrak-related thought, and they just become more convoluted the more i think about them. I have a vague idea of what Ketrak would look like, yeah, but it's hard to describe. Don't try to think of a big ol' bug with lots of legs and eyes or whatever, but rather something that would represent the concept of an insect. A hard shell, a mechanical instinct to carry out its work, a blindness to the workings of anything outside its tiny sphere of experience. What would a worker ant see as it's crushed under a giant finger? What seems scary to Kat might be a welcoming sight for a wasp slowly burning to death on a sun blasted window sil, confounded by the glass keeping it from the outside world. Something like that.

I think that Ketrak's scariness (at least to Kat) works better if we don't get a clear idea of what he looks like. (The same with Zimmy's experiment in Chapter Five; the revelation that even Reynardine was afraid of it gave a far better impression of how terrifying it must be than any straightforward telling us what it was like.)
One other problem with doing "Gunnerkrigg Court" in live-action: you'd have to find an unusually talented twelve-year-old actress out there capable of portraying Antimony convincingly. In 2-D animation, at least you could have an older actress just supplying the voice talent (and given Annie's characterization, it would work to have her sound more grown-up - at least, until she starts thawing out as she makes friends with Kat).
