You probably wouldn't want to stand too near her in general. Why is that? Does she just have an evil aura or something? Or will she get angrier about someone being too close? Also, is there a specific reason why Birmingham of all cities? I have never been to UK and I have no idea what it's like.

Well, aside from that, hygiene isn't exactly a priority of hers.
I currently live in Birmingham, and they always say write what you know.

Tom, is English cuisine really as bad as people keep telling me, or are they just exaggerating for comedic effect?

It's not an exaggeration. England's contribution to world cuisine is about as noteworthy as graffiti in a bathroom stall in the Louvre.

Hey Tom, you have said you have been traveling around the world. Where exactly have you been?

Not really many places but, various states around the US, Spain, France, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Amsterdam, Egypt and maybe a few others I was too young to remember. I haven't been anywhere in a while though.

Nothing that I couldn't explain, no. By this do you mean that supernatural things have happened, but you have a perfectly good supernatural explanation for them?

I mean that when something strange happens there is a mundane, if not obvious, explanation behind it.

Actually when I went to England I had this really really good sandwich. It was mayonaise and shredded cheese and onions all mixed together on white bread. I'm not sure whether its an english specialty haha or not but I've never had anything like it and I thought it was pretty tasty! Have you ever tried that Tom?

He He, Tom the Rationalist!
Here's one regarding Zimmy. Since you said she isn't really a tidy person and the state of her teeth is legendary, I was wondering if she's one of those people who keep a personal shrine to their dentist. Or are her teeth actually little daggers that can bite through bone with ease?
I can easily imagine her chewing on a bone the way people chew hard candy.

Zimmy doesn't spend a whole lot of time thinking about her teeth.

What percentage of Gunnerkrigg Court teachers are, during school days, relatively normal (Mr. Eglamore probably falls under this category and his dragon-hunting job doesn't count - another good example is this geology teacher) and what percentage are, during school days, noticeably idiosyncratic (like the incredibly boring teacher on this page or a certain Dr. Disaster)? If you can't come up with percentages, you can just say which are more common, optionally with a qualitative description of how much more common. Edit: While I'm asking: was 'the court at Gunner's Crag' the original name of Gunnerkrigg Court at the time of its founding?

The Gunner's Crag was one of the names it was called.

Character trait percentages are not really what this comic is about. So teachers, and everyone else, can be whatever they want to be and you don't care about how many are weird? That's wise stuff.

On a non story line tangent, I know you have the comics done a little in advance, but have you ever read something here or on the comments and gone "heck no, they guessed the plot" and then sat down on the PC and changed everything so keep us on our toes?

Not really, no. I'm not trying to trick anyone here. Sometimes I leave clues in the story so people can figure out stuff on their own.
Edit: However, this makes it a kick in the nuts when people call me predictable when I've clearly been leading up to something.

This most recent comic gave me a thought. Are Zimmy's powers, potent as they are, actually potent enough to kill everyone in the world and Zimmy herself on a whim (or Gamma's whim), or would she have to do some traveling?
Also, do you hate when people ask about Zimmy?

That remains to be seen.
No I don't hate when people ask about Zimmy.

My question is releated to This: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=157 page. During my third re-reading of the archive (this time, i'm using GC as an english teaching aid like pudgimelon, hah) , with a little help from me being italian, and from wikipedia, i identified the Psychopomps as, in order: Neith (Egyptian), Ankou (Breton), Agni (Hindu), and Mercury(Roman). But i cannot identify the horned snake-tail guy in the lower-left corner talking to Annie. Who's he?
