Tom a question - What do you use to draw the strip?
Looks to me like you use Illustrator or something like that...

Right now I use a graphics tablet called a Cintiq, and Photoshop, though I used to draw and ink the comic on paper. I switched to all digital a few pages in to Chapter 17.

A cintiq? the new wocom one?
i know quite a few artists who'd give their drawing hand for one [well that would be counter intuitative actually ><]. Isnt it like a one or two thousand dollars?

Now we know why Tom's representation of himself doesn't have any hands.

Isn't it the tabletverse of buckley ? I call it like that because it's frikkin HUGE. I know it's not an artist's example, but the hardware is impressive.

The Cintiq is the same one Buckley has, yeah. However, unlike Buckley, I actually put it to good use. I spent a long time saving up for it and it's helped immensely with the comic.

Woah... ... Considering my smaller-than-a-postcard wacom whose aspect ratio doesn't match the ratio of my screen.. I think I might get a little envious.

I changed it because it was silly. There are also minor changes in the book. Book? What book? Tom, when are you going to admit that you slipped hallucinogens into the comic that made us all delusional about this so called "book"?

Don't worry. I've also given up hope of the book ever materialising. I've had enough worrying about it.

I really think that the people at that publishing company need to straighten out their act, and soon.

Tom, I'm a new reader of the comic, and I've greatly enjoyed it. The scope of the fictional world and the unfolding story is quite impressive, and I'm very excited to follow the new updates now that I'm caught up. I also had a few questions that I was hoping you could answer when you have the time.
Do Anja and Donald have different areas of scientific expertise or interest? If so, has Kat taken more interest in one parent's particular field over the other? Also, did Anja and Donald actively encourage Kat to take an interest in science, or did that mostly develop naturally?
I've really enjoyed the bits of the Donlan family dynamic we've seen, and I'd be very interested to hear any additional information about their relationships (provided it doesn't spoil anything).

I know this question has already been asked, but I'm pretty sure there's more than one answer. And if there isn't, then I'm sorry for asking a question that's already been asked.
What is one question you've always wanted to be asked?

Also, if you have a funny random question like "Can Superman beat up Darth Vader?", don't count on it being answered.

Anja and Donald both specialise in different areas, yeah. Specifically, Kat has more of a mechanical leaning, like her dad, while Anja is more of an electrician and physicist.

my question for Tom:
it seems to me (personal interpretation, take it for what it's worth) that Annie (among others, but primarily her) is meant to act something like a bridge between two halves of a dichotomous world... and i was wondering if this quality (the need/desire to mediate between divergent interests) is something that you identify with on a personal level.
i hope that's an appropriate question! my apologies if it's not...

I wouldn't say I feel that way, but I think people understand what it's like to be between two opposing sides. I just didn't want to tell a story that was straight up "good vs bad" because things just don't work that way in real life.

Those gray lines between Gamma and Zimmy's head: are they visible to Kat and Annie and the rest?

No, only to the readers of the comic.

Are the bonus pages (and the Summer Holiday introduction) in which Tea (the white-haired girl) talks directly to the viewer canonical (which would mean that she knows about our universe and has the power to see it)?
Also, I have a question about Doctor Disaster. It is unclear whether he always acts like he does in Chapter 10 or if he was just acting, but that's undoubtedly your intention so I don't want you to tell me whether or not he is acting. It seems likely that his students are also unsure about this matter. My question: are the other teachers aware of whether Doctor Disaster is just acting or if he's always like that?
Edit: Also, something that just came to mind: which comes first, the existence of a Guide (such as Muut), or people's belief in that Guide (such as belief in the Native American afterlife myth that involves Muut)?

All the pages are canonical, except the summer holiday graphic
