This chapter title is the best chapter title Tom has ever written.
Edit: I'm calling not-a-short-chapter. When we had a one-page chapter, there was a lot of dramatic lead-up, tension building, and a title page that all made it look like we were in for a big showdown. And then we weren't. (Which didn't just serve to troll the readers--it gave us the same experience as Annie. She thought confronting her father about Reynardine was going to be an ordeal, and she was surprised when it wasn't.) This, on the other hand, doesn't have a big dramatic buildup; therefore, it will be big and dramatic. (Or something.) In short: an anticlimax requires the expectation of a climax.

Indigo, so she can be an indigo girl.
Yeah, I'm expecting a real chapter here. After all, it's Chapter 2 of a new book, right? I'm expecting big questions, or little events that suggest later big changes (since we're just past a big change)

Normally, I'd have expected this to be a long chapter, but I think Tom is aware of our expectation of this being one, and so he is going to subvert it by making this a short chapter.

Judging by the preview icon, Annie selected either of "Blue" or "Gloriana" and should have gone with "Snake Eyes" (double pasch, no less) -- not to be confused with "Snake-in-the-eye" -- though I suppose that, due to the usual Court school attire, she could take the Whiteshirt moniker (not Monica). Incidentally, I have no idea how to translate "Doppelpasch". It's "rain guard" recycled, if in the reverse direction. For some reason I dreamt about GC today. I dreamt they called Red's friend... Reed ... why brain, why?! I'll play the psychoanalyst for five minutes (and seven seconds): Because.

This image? If so, where are you getting any of those names or terms?

Indigo, so she can be an indigo girl. And grow up to be a strong, indigo woman who don't need no man? (I'll see myself out)

Looking at the chapter icon, either Annie almost forgot to name Blue, or she named her Blue, and Red and Friend think that's a stupid name.

The gang have no idea what they are unleashing. Once Red and her friend both have a name, nothing can stop them...

Also: ah yes, the "silently screaming at you to do something, snake-eyed look" ! Forgot Tom used that.... Maybe they are looking at Annie and Kat to say, "get on with it and name her already!"

Another argument for not-a-short-chapter: we still haven't found out what Robot's status is. Of late, we were all too busy being relieved for Smitty and mad at Muut to worry much about him. The green eyes could be a good sign; but if this was his experience of breaking a finger, I can't imagine what getting skewered and sliced in half was like.

What I earlier called "the shipping stare" (here being used on...?*) * In reference to the thumbnail! It's obvious who the gang are targetting.

Maybe Anthony will name her. What they've done comes to light, Annie is getting into trouble, Anthony (although upset about Annie putting herself at risk) turns to the fairies and says, "Red, Blue, thank you for helping my daughter." thus showing us exactly where Annie gets her SUPERAMAMZING naming skills from. I assume Anthony knows not to do that
