guessing a number of things Jeanne didn't cut the strings last minute so going to guess his luck is still holding out no blood leaking onto hoodie, probably had something in his hoodie but not thick enough to stop a dagger, just slow it, and redirect stabbed in chest, but only by part of the blade no blood around mouth, and he's not dead yet, so missed lung, and heart but still having a blade in your chest, is still going to hurt like hell another good thing, as her real sword and dagger is held by her corpse. the blade is etheric, as in part of Jeanne's soul, she might be able to cancel the damage when she removes the dagger or the blade didn't harm his body and the blade only stabbed his soul hopefully it didn't break his good luck

Wow. Tom plays a long game. Yeah, no kidding! This page was published 10 years, 6 months, and 25 days ago and I was still in a freshman in high school! And this page makes me think that it was always going to show up again! How far did he have the story mapped out ten years ago?

From what I remember of the Realm of the Dead story, the first one was chasing something else but had to go by Jeanne, and it was unclear who the others were chasing.
{edit} I've had an awful thought about Robot - what if there's some deep programming (something akin to a subconscious) to make sure that there's a guard spirit?

By the way, if the green guy's regeneration is an effect of some kind of a timestop, then he's actually back to being properly alive again and it's pretty bananas. Complicates his and Jeanne situation quite a bit. Unless the reversal of said timestop will make him grow old and crumble to dust before our eyes, leaving only his ghost to be reunited with Jeanne. Annie will then be able to guide the both of them into the ether. Unless some other department wants to meddle, demanding that they deserve a nicer kind of afterlife first! Went to look back through the chapter a bit, at first I thought maybe he had the hare's rubix cube, but that was noticeable and a part of the story. Then I realized it just said Story and not chapter, so probably was the hair clip...What makes you guys think that that's just not an off-hand joke about that concept in general (unimportant things becoming important later on as a foreshadowing/story device)? It was a super short chapter, so I took it to mean that Tea was "taken by surprise" with the reader being there already. Why not both?

Andrew, the plan, everything, will be stricken from all records. We will bury what was done here this day. GC: The Next Generation

Tying in a possible Smitty death (or a Smitty near-death) and the recovery of Annie's (and Surma's) hair-clip makes narrative sense to me. The underlying idea might be the same, perhaps, as in Amanda Palmer's lovely song, "Lost": "Lost" Lyrics below: I lost my wallet I lost my wallet And I'm lost, dear I swear I had it I had it on me when we got here
Let's go to Vegas Let's get a karaoke back room I'll never find it I wanna shout into the vacuum
That nothing's ever lost forever It's just caught inside the cushions of your couch And when you find it You'll have such a nice surprise Nothing's ever lost forever It's just hiding in the recess of your mind And when you need it It will come to you at night
Ho
I miss the yellow I miss the yelling and the shakedown I'm not complaining I got a better set of knives now
I miss my drummer My dead stepbrother And the pit crowd And Chuck and Matty If they could see me, they'd be so proud
But nothing's ever lost forever It's just caught inside the cushions of your couch And when you find it You'll have such a nice surprise Nothing's ever lost forever It's just hiding in the recess of your mind And when you need it It will come to you at night
The wake is over We gotta leave because they said so I want to tell you I want to tell you But you're dead, so
Golden light So way up high So wave goodbye
Tonight you'll find That nothing's ever lost forever It's just caught inside the cushions of your couch And when you find it You'll have such a nice surprise Nothing's ever lost forever It's just hiding in the recess of your mind And when you need it It will come to you at night
No one's ever lost forever When they die they go away But they will visit you occasionally Do not be afraid No one's ever lost forever They are caught inside your heart If you garden them and water them They make you what you are No one's ever lost forever When they die they go away But they will visit you occasionally Do not be afraid No one's ever lost forever They are caught inside your heart If you garden them and water them They make you what you are

My thougts on this : in the couple next pages, Smitty and Parley will exchange a quick look and murmur to each other :
- Is it okay now ?... - Yeah sure, Jeanne seems to have forgotten us. Wow, that was awesome ! And scary ! But Andrew, HOW could you possibly now that she'll aim for you ? - I told you, I didn't, just had this weird feeling about it. *get the thing that protected him out of his hoodie* But it still hurts like hell. - I'll warp us in the next medic office now.
Because, you know. No ?...
And Elf Guy will come to life only if we can get cured Jeanne's soul a new body in the Court's body-farm.
Otherwise, their two souls will be reunited in love and Ether and death.

So Annie's kid is half-Anwyn, but what's Kat's kid supposed to be? A robot? Robot vampire! She's the last of her kind, cursed with strange powers and brooding over her captivating uniqueness! People shun her and are irresistibly drawn to her!

And I don't think speaking to Jeanne would have helped. She's seen Annie and Parley before. She wanted to kill Parley and tried to kill Annie. A ghost that kills psychopomps and other creatures with terrifying speed... isn't something you go down and just talk to. That's the thing, though: Jeanne clearly was not trying to kill Parley and Annie in The Coward Heart. Parley remarks on this exact thing afterward. If she had wanted to kill them, she could have done it easily (unless the fact that they were only there etherically made a difference). Similarly, in Broken Glass, she had every opportunity to stab Annie instead of just nicking her cheek. This restraint, when she kills everything else (including cameras) without a second's hesitation, is what's so puzzling about Jeanne. I think their distraction plan might have been the best option and we are regretting it falling apart. This, I agree. Which is why they should have tried to reestablish the illusion after Jeanne skewered Robot, instead of Parley punching her and ruining all chances for a rapprochement.

My favorite comment from the comic page so far: That's just perfect. Of all the...I bow to the master. Well done, Tom! And so we're done here, the lovers reunited, their tormented spirits appeased, the arc ended. Wait, there's something else...oh yeah, Blue doesn't have a name yet. No, something else...oh, yeah, that dagger. It's not supposed to be there, is it?
