And this is when we realize the arrow, and everything else, were made to bind Jeanne - for absolutely good reasons that weren't explained in the flashback. I really hope that isn't the case. There's already a little imperialist weirdness in this comic already that would make that kind of a twist even more uncomfortable for me than it would without it. Count me as another person who hopes that Tom isn't going to take that route. And I still think that there has to be a third option out there, rather than "the only alternative to keeping two people bound forever in torment as ghosts is to have an entire community slaughtered by angry forest-folk".

Rest assured Gunnerkrigg Readers, to defend the Court after Jeanne's departure, the Bots will form an army. An army of killer robots who fanatically worship the Mecha Angel. The humans in the Court will live in peace, at least until they cross or displease Kat. How is that third option for you?

This looks like the wrong underside of "letting go"; Mort's old life and relationships faded away and left him a clean slate to join the ether. Jeanne is looking positively apoplectic - like Lady Cregga Rose Eyes, berserker mode - now that the biggest part of her old life and relationship has faded away. Unexpected Redwall reference, nice.

Hmm, Ive always thought it odd that Jeanne's sword suddenly materialized when she first saw Robot as a threat in Blue's illusion. Also, the sword made an ether-cut on Annie invisible to non-etherics. I don't think Jeanne was lowered down to the Annan waters with a sword; was it dropped to her later, *by Diego?* Is the sword another of his devices? On Page 775 the hilt of the sword is visible behind Jeanne's sleeve as she is lowered down to the shore. well spotted. Well, there goes *that* theory!

It looks to me like Jeanne is flailing against an invisible barrier between her and Parley. Perhaps she is now bound to one side of the waters, in a way she wasn't before?
(Along with, you know, being utterly consumed with rage now that she no longer senses her sweet baboo, or whatever this is.)

About Jeanne's sword; she dropped it five pages ago and we don't really see it in this page. On Page 775 the hilt of the sword is visible behind Jeanne's sleeve as she is lowered down to the shore. well spotted. Well, there goes *that* theory! The sword used by the ghost Jeanne is the ghost of Jeanne's sword...For reference:

Maybe Annie is seeing that Jeanne cut some of Smitty's threads?

Either a)GreenGuy is trying to get close to Jeanne, and she, in denial of their death and imminent separation is stabbing at him in the ether, Or b) she is keeping a psychopomp away from her beloved

The humans in the Court will live in peace, at least until they cross or displease Kat. How is that third option for you? I was hoping for something less violent - say, Annie and the others delving into just why the forest-folk are so upset with the Court, and seeing if they can solve that.

A psychopomp (or two) could have come for her now. Depending on whose point of view the scene is from they might not be visible.
