Yeah, I take back what I said in Monday's thread about it being Annie; this character doesn't even fit with the idea that her messing with the arrow is causing disturbances, in my mind. Inclined to jump on the Last Ditch Manifestation by Blue theory. Hope damaging the manifestation doesn't damage Blue, somehow.

The thing on the non-sword wrist looks like the bind Coyote put on Annie. However, it seems more likely that this is some manifestation of Coyote himself. It seems like the sort of thing that he would do. (Both of these are wild guesses. My bet is on Annie, actually, though.)

My impression *now* is that the figure has elements of Robot in it (a skilled fencer, possibly skimmed from George's memory?) This was also my first thought (upon second viewing). I don't know how it would work or make sense, but I'm definitely getting a robot vibe from the fencer. Maybe Robot found the gang and jumped down to save them (though on second thought it would be difficult to imagine him threatening Jeanne...). If not the Robot, maybe a robot? Perhaps Diego built a safeguard into the device, and this is how it's manifesting to Jeanne? The guy is known for working with robots. Oh, or perhaps the 'robot' guy is Kat's doing? And then there's the weird Antimony/Tony hair, and I just noticed there's something weird going on with the figure's hands. I just don't knoooooooooow... But why would the arrow need any safeguard but Jeanne herself, and, even if there was, why would it attack her?

It's such a shame that Jeanne's storyline will wrap up soon. Her story is fascinating, her design is beautiful, and Tom does a great job of portraying her as this ladylike, graceful swordswoman.
Panel 3 is just gorgeous, and the interesting thing is that Jeanne manages to a.) dodge a sword lunge right when it's thrust at her, b.) wearing a long gown that she can't move her legs too far in (see how she's practically horizontal?), c.) without falling down. Incredible grace and balance.
This storyline really serves to drive home what kind of character Jeanne is. I think most people would portray a "realistic warrior woman" as wearing pants and armor, a Joan of Arc style character that abandons femininity in pursuit of strength. Jeanne, however, embraces her femininity and grace. She doesn't wear the armor and fitted clothing of a traditional fighter, but trained enough that she can make those practiced movements in a dress. There's a practical side to this, too; Jeanne wants to be ready to fight at any time, even if she's dressed in formal wear or something elegant and pretty, rather than functional.

It could be Tony. The square jaw, the messed up face, the connection to Annie in the hair - which is not the figure's real hair. The messed up hand. There's definitely evidence. And even though Tony's demonstrated a total failure to sense the aether, we've seen that he's entered it in the past. It's possible that that door is still open to him.
It could also just be a metaphorical interpretation of the arrow in the process of being removed. Annie is pulling it out, Jeanne doesn't want it out. This is how that struggle happens in the phantom world Blue has invented.

The square jaw, the messed up face I just had a terrible idea! It could be Boxbot pridefully proposing marriage to Jeanne and because of her prejudice to robots she is rejecting his love.

Oh man, the drama. The status quo shifts!
(I fear someone is going to die before this is all said and done)

I think the figure is a manifestation of the arrow's power. It has the purple blob around the head, which I view as the Court's and Diego's twisted reasons for making her the sacrifice in the first place. It also has a green blob right around where the heart would be, it being the source of the enchantment/mechanism keeping Jeanne trapped. I'm sure Tom will prove me wrong tomorrow.

Maybe it could be that the arrow is connected to Jeanne in some way, and it's causing her illusion self to become her real self again.

What's that symbol in the sword fighter's mouth? I just thought that's his eye, as if he were a warped Picasso character. Turns out I was wrong after all. Oh well. If that bothered me, this fandom wouldn't suit me well. I'm sure Tom will prove me wrong tomorrow. You and me both, brother.
