Strange, I've seen that boat before. tiberius , that means the gang probably snatched it from somewhere in the Court, perhaps from that same lakeshore. Edit: There's a distinct lack of oars in the current page, though, supporting the assumption that they did not row down the Annan Waters. Whatever contraption is attached to the boat behind Kat's back wasn't present in Spring Heeled, either. Of course, it could just be a motor... It is just a trawling motor to Kat. To everyone else, it is a trolling motor. I will try to stop now...

Thanks everyone who tried to explain my questions You're right, they have. But as far as I can tell, any shenanigans going on at night always were on court grounds. The moment, Annie left the school ground physically without any allowance from the court, the alarm went off. I always thought the alarm was related to unauthorized access to the bridge (the alarm goes off when Annie's foot touches the ground down the steps) and not related to students leaving any allowed perimeter. It's not the bridge as we have seen before. Also, since we know the court is tracking each individual any second, I would guess, even teleporting of grounds would result in the same effect without serious preparation. So it is an etheric power extender combined with an arrow dismantler. Sounds like something coming from Kat alright It would probably be simpler to freeze everything within two meters of the arrow, drag the mini-iceberg out and deal with it in a more accessible place. But Annie wants to help Jeanne, though. I think, moving the arrow and her to another place was not part of the plan. Instead they seem to try to fix the arrow and guide Jeanne to the ether immediately close by. Concerning the whole "How did they get down, without alarm or Jeanne cutting them up?" I imagine the scene as follows: 1) Kat manages to block any surveillance signals (with something like those anti-bugs that Jack made), so the alarm doesn't go off. (Or the alarm really is connected to the bridge and they just don't touch it.) 2) Everything is prepared above the ravine, including the boat and everyone's position. 3) Blue starts the illusion remotely, hence the first scenes of Jeanne without any of our heroes present. 4) Parley bips everybody down (maybe even in one go without touching anyone, because her powers are stronger now?) 5) Parley, Annie and Red now also enter the etheric illusion. (Maybe Red and Annie went earlier, but I imagine Parley has to be conciuos to bip everyone before she could join them.) 6) Here we are! This sounds pretty solid to me, thank you, for taking the time Question: Why is Annie sitting in the boat with Kat? Is she going to leave the illusion once she's made sure everything is going fine? I think they have to go to the middle of the river in order to access the arrow. This is going to be fun! My best guess is, that she is the only one who might be expandable to switch between the ether and the real world. Kat and Smitty can't get to the ether. Blue definitly has to stay in the ether so has Parley and Red ... well, would you trust Red to dismantle the arrow that has been there for generations? May I ask one more question? What do you guys think, how much time went by between Annie saying that it's time and this actually taking place? All the preparations, all the improvement needed by Annie and the negotiations between the group and Red/Blue?

All the preparations, all the improvement needed by Annie and the negotiations between the group and Red/Blue? This one I can only guesstimate: we are not yet in the summer break, so we could assume last chapter's events took place on a weekend (else Annie should be busy with her remedial school work). By that logic this right now should be a weekend as well. But this is only guessing, there is no way to actually tell. I was wondering whether Annie had the idea to use Blue's abilities already a while ago, but I think she only thought of it after talking to the purple haired fairy last chapter. So even if all their instruments were ready, and they already had a general idea of how to go about this, they would still need to convince Red and Blue and introduce them to the plan. Sooo, at least one day, but I assume it was around a week.

I wonder if the boat is like a secondary means of escape, too? If Parley's occupied with holding off Jeanne, it would be convenient (and rather Kat-like) if that boat did indeed have an anti-grav thermos attached to it. It seems we created threads simultaneously. Since this is the thread people have started posting in it is probably most convenient to ignore your thread, despite you posting first. Sorry about that. no big deal, only reason it stayed up so long was because we're moving in a couple days and packing is a b--

About alarm, people. I want to remind you that Kat was already even at the forest shore and there was no alarm of her leaving. Page 142

I have to say, out of all the possible ways to meet Jeanne, within arm's reach is not one I would normally put in my top five. This whole situation just looks super uncomfortable.

All the preparations, all the improvement needed by Annie and the negotiations between the group and Red/Blue? From what we've seen so far I don't think this needed a whole lot of logistical setup so I'll guess it's only been as many days from "it's time" as it was days from then until the evening of the next day off of school... And I say that because George has (at least) changed shirts, Smitty isn't in uniform and this sort of thing should take SOME planning. So, less than a week. The robots should know where equipment is stored and George can bip and Kat can bypass security so it's possible that this is as early as the evening of the following night.

I just noticed that the panels that take place in Blue's etheric illusion go all the way to the edges of the page. With the transition to the non-etheric world, the panels return to their normal black borders. Tom used borderless panels for etheric scenes a number of times, but I didn't notice it in this chapter until today's page that has both type of panels.
Oh, and there is the chapter thumbnail. It was Parley and Jeanne walking in the distance.

So, they decided against the giggle blade, probably because it's to noisy. It's also extremely dangerous and arguably not as useful as it might seem - although it's very powerful and probably could slay Jeanne in principle, it does no good if Jeanne can kill you before you even draw it. Also, destroying Jeanne would kind of defeat the true purpose of this exercise, which is to allow her to peacefully return to the ether, which leads me to... Her spirit has been down there a long time. If freed she may not decide to "pass on", but instead seek bloody bloody murder. Not for malice or revenge, but just to release centuries of built-up angst and anger. Just because that IS what she is, after all this time. So... Part of the purpose of the Blue illusion may be to deal with that very likelihood. It may not just be an attempt to distract Jeanne while Kat works on the arrow, but also an attempt to pacify her, or at least get her to the point where she can be negotiated with. It also occurs to me to wonder how exactly the arrow binds her. Since the arrow was aimed at her lover, not at her directly, I speculate that the device's direct function is to bind his spirit and prevent him from returning to the ether; Jeanne's spirit remains to be as close to her lover as possible (and also to deal swift destruction to anything, material or etheric, that comes her way, which of course was the Court's purpose for arranging all this in the first place).

It may not just be an attempt to distract Jeanne while Kat works on the arrow, but also an attempt to pacify her, or at least get her to the point where she can be negotiated with. Possibly but I suspect Jeanne is hate-filled enough that she cannot assist, both by the device's direct effect and the circumstances that led to its deployment. Perhaps it's more like anesthetic? Tinkering with the arrow in preparation for deactivating it would probably cause changes in her status one way or another and her being distracted/confused/dreaming during the process couldn't hurt. It appears to be a basic principle of magic in myth and fiction that you can cause changes in one thing by changing another thing that is related to the first, assuming you know the correct method. The stronger the relationship the greater the changes that can be made. Carve a wooden totem of a deer and you can summon them to you while you are hunting, make a voodoo doll that has the image of your intended victim and include a lock of hair or nail-clippings and you can harm the person by harming the doll. Mr. Green had Jeanne's heart. So, the arrow in his body nailed her spirit to the spot, so to speak. Perhaps that's the significance of the twin point.

Way back when, Jones asked Annie to let her know when she had more detailed information about this "Jeanne" person. If I were Annie, I would have gone to Jones before setting up this operation. Wouldn't we all feel a little less worried about the kids' safety if Jones were down there with them, and maybe Eglamore as well?

But yeah, it seems to be about not "setting foot" on the bridge courtyard. Then again, it's possible that this was done from the control side rather than circumventing the alarm itself. Perhaps if the Mediums cleared up a visit, the siren is off and they can just take "those others guys" with them. Or it's handled by Eglamore, so Parley did it on her own.

Is Kat taking notes on a portable manual typewriter?
(Everyone else would probably see her talking to a beautifully plumed bird sitting on her lap, while she floats down a crystal stream on a golden swan's back. Everyone knows she has a thing for birds.]

So, they decided against the giggle blade, probably because it's to noisy. If they need it, Parley can get it in a blink, and before she does, Jeanne can't take it and use against her (if that is possible).

Remember the realm and beings Tony talked about on this page? We're going to have to visit them at some point, and this seems like the perfect time to do so.

Jones wouldn't be able to help, she doesn't seem to have any etheric presence to speak of. She probably couldn't even see Jeanne and Jeanne wouldn't even register her. And Eglamore would probably do anything to prevent the kids from trying this in the first place.

That seems to be the plan in a nutshell; distract Jeanne - find and disarm/destroy arrow - free green dude - unite green dude and Jeanne - everybody lives happily ever after, except for the two lovers who are already dead.

And now let us all remember the 2013 dolphin invasion... Or the great Babaji debacle that catapulted GK into being a Mod. That whole dolphin affair was sad and unnecessary, though. I still don't get why they were all banned, but it's in the past now. Also, wasn't it 2014? I remember that it happened when I was already established here, and I joined in late 2013.

I wanted to claim forum-fish-seniority but four members joined earlier that I did. However, I'm the only Gunner in this fish pond, so that's something! Also, I completely missed the dolphin debacle, learned about it just a while ago through some other thread. The internet is weird.

Back when we had the World of Text going before intelligensomeone vandalized it Oh, wow, that brings me back. I remember the World of Text. I looked back at it a few months ago; apparently it got wiped - either by intelligensomeone who felt like vandalizing it a second time, or by the administration due to inactivity (probably the latter, since the whitelisted "laststand" and "806044e58537b7bde557" ones got wiped too). I wonder what ever happened to intelligensomeone. I know he registered a second account when the first one got banhammered by Tom, but that one fell silent after the whole "Robots did nothing wrong" situation.

Also, wasn't it 2014? I remember that it happened when I was already established here, and I joined in late 2013. I seem to remember the main shenanigans happening at the end of 2013, and then exactly a year later something else happened. Something minor, like an account of two, and someone trying to reexplain the ordeal. I may not be remembering correctly, though. So, you may be remembering two separate dolphin events. Dual dolphin debacles, as it were.
