Hi, I'm new to the forums, sorry if this has been discussed already somewhere but I couldn't find it . . . How does <snuffle> have that squiggly etheric form while also having their humanoid form in the ether? Also on this page and the previous one it kinda looks like both forms are existing in the ether at the same time? I might just be reading the panels wrong on that one. But, yeah, if these beings have cool squiggly etheric forms I don't get why they are appearing in the ether as pretty much their human forms.

I think the simple answer is that humans, even the Foley students, are relatively mundane and look mostly the same in the ether. As opposed to some of the creatures from the Forest that look so different in the ether with the extreme examples being Renard and Ysengrin while the most extreme example is Coyote. Others forum members have already speculated that humans are creatures of the mundane world with some ability to influence or manipulate the ether while fairies may be creatures of the ether that have some ability to influence, manipulate, or project themselves into the mundane world. And now a jovial response... In Gunnerkriig Court, you don't ask why <Snuffles>* has a squiggly form in the ether, you ask why <Snuffles>* doesn't have a squiggly form in the mundane world! * Pronounced Correctly |

My interpretation is that the fairies naturally have "squiggly" forms like <Snuffle>* does, but upon being "humanized" by the Court's biological engineering, their etheric form changes just as their physical form did (their etheric form becomes like Annie's - reflective of their physical bodies). *Pronounced correctly Also, welcome to the forum!  |

Thanks you two! That helps. I have another question then . . . If <Snuffle>'s etheric form is now humanoid, how come we were able to see their squiggly colorful form in this comic? Like it appeared for a couple pages and now it's gone again and we're seeing the human ether form again.

Like it appeared for a couple pages and now it's gone again and we're seeing the human ether form again. <Snuffles>* is the green fairy ( page 1377, page 1380, and page 1583). She looks like a humanoid fairy in the mundane world and squiggly in the ether. The former female rabbit, now male Foley student, does not have a name, yet. There is nothing comic that says whether she had a name when she was a rabbit. If she did have a name, then the fact that Foley student's don't start out with names indicates that they have to give up whatever name they may have had in the Forest along with their bodies. I also keep wanting to call him Snuffles, partly because I got used to calling the <Snuffles>* Green. * Pronounced Correctly. |
