I love how casual everyone is around supernatural entities. It's really something that makes this universe endearing to me, haha. But Annie has brought Rey to classes several times so far, so I suspect her classmates are at least reasonably familiar with him. Not that I disagree, but neither of those times were a normal, sit-in-a-chair class. First time was on the way to Kat's workshop the first time, and the second was after one of the Medium classes. She did bring him along to some detentions early on, though, so it's not unlikely. We also know that at other times he was left in her room while Annie was at classes, so it may have varied. I see it as good odds that Annie's friends have met Renard at some point over the last three years, at least.

Annie asked if Renard could come with them after Kat said there were people who wanted to see her. She may feel anxious about what those people will think of her and needs Rey's for emotional support if they laugh at her. I didn't notice this initially because I am confident that whoever Kat is taking Annie to meet won't laugh at her. But Annie lacks that confidence at the moment.

Oh, we still have that thumb nail at the beginning of the chapter. Someone is going to make Rey bristle.

William might make his move, and Renard will not approve! I wish it was that simple/humorous, but I think Tom is going to punch us right in the feels again.

We've only seen Renard that scary once (that I can recall), and there was a mind controlling spider of nightmare in someone's head at the time gunnerkrigg.com/?p=593So I think there is cause for concern.
