One does, however, have one's memory become shot from one staying up too late at night every Monday, Wednesday and Friday waiting for Gunnerkrigg Court to update because it's a British webcomic and one lives on the eastern coast of the United States, resulting in a six hour time difference. Tom is in Britain, but the server that serves Gunnerkrigg.com is actually in California. The front page updates, with almost perfect reliability, at midnight US Pacific time (shifting to and from DST on the US schedule) plus or minus about 15 seconds.

tears of hate? maybe she's crying because NO ONE knew who she was? Everyone on the forum knew... It's almost like everyone outside the forum doesn't spend hours cultivating an encyclopedic knowledge of the webcomic! Which would be absurd, of course. My attempts at sarcasm do not translate well into text

All characters in Gunnerkrigg Court are Eglamore. Especially those in skirts. NOOOOO! This is major SPOILER! I have found this hidden, well-foreshadowed truth long ago, but decided to remain silent and allow other readers to find on their own. This is big spoiler especially considering that even most character don't know that their are Eglamore (actually none except one).

I'm pretty sure Tom was just joking and knew perfectly well that we all knew who they were Helpful guide.

I read a few of the comments posted on the comic page, just for fun. I think there is a general epidemic of misunderstanding sarcasm today. Given the history of Tom's commentary on GC, I think it's safe to say his comment was also a joke (I didn't think it needed to be said until I read some of those comments . . . wow).
I'm even more surprised at all the "fourth wall" comments given that Tea's entire existence is based on the fact that readers exist.

We should all be thankful there is high bar that must be overcome to enter the forums. The uninitiated actually have to scroll down the page, see the Forum button, and select the Forum button. What would this place be like if just anybody could wander in?

I really don't think it was a joke. As a casual reader it's almost impossible to remember two minor characters that appeared literally half a webcomic ago (56/2=28), especially if you're reading through the archive for the first time.

Though I think many people on the wider internet actually didn't know who they were. Color me one of them. I still think from behind her figure and hair look like Jones.

I interpret this joke as being in the same vein as the joke of pointing out that a character isn't Eglamore. All characters in Gunnerkrigg Court are Eglamore. Especially those in skirts. The truth goes even deeper. All Eglamores are Gunnerkrigg Court characters. I bet you didn't see that coming.

I'm admittedly not often up when it updates. I was under the mistaken belief for some reason that it was usually updated at 1 Pacific (4 Eastern), so I'd foolishly assumed that this was to allow it to update at a time when Tom would typically be conscious should something go wrong given his place of residents. But you know what they say about assuming *shrugs*
