Khopesh'n'Katana are the best!
Actually that was a lie all swords are awesome. Even though they'll cut you and everyone else.
Tea's commentary is insightful, as ever.
Also: *Pyhew!!* Comix! is now going to be my second favorite onomatopoeia.
Also; needless to say, Tom's swords make me much happier than whoever draws the D'n'D books.
I do hope we'll be seeing many more swords in the future!

Delightfully snarky.
(I wonder whose thoughts that white text box is suppose to represent.)

I am delighted by the subtle clash between Tea's lines and her joyous smile here.

As an add-on to Tea's remark, I've read that the sword is the only prominent early weapon to be made solely for warfare. Bows, arrows, and spears can be used for hunting as well, and axes for cutting down trees. But swords are strictly for fighting other people.

Personally I prefer spears (the stabby kind, not the ones built for throwing) over swords when it comes to portraying man's savage bloodlust, exactly because of the glorifying thing; spears aren't glorified as much because they're more basic and primitive (a sturdy twig, a sharp rock and some tar already makes a functional spear), hence savage.

Swords are awesome. What's wrong with the desire for dominance over your enemies, namely the fact that your enemy is a bloody smear and you're not? Humanity built civilisations on making people other than themselves bloody smears!
I like longswords by the way. Curvy swords always looked a little dishonest to me.

But that would be a tragedy.

But that would be a tragedy. Well, if we're going for bear killing, a spear would be much more useful. Killing a bear with a sword would be dangerous, because you have to get within claw range to use it. Also, yes. Tom's commentary is spot on, as usual. I just read an article on the glorification of the katana, and the fact that our awe of it comes from the idea of the cool, stylistic murder of your enemy appealing to our mass bloodlust. Humans! We suck!

Strange falchion, but maybe it is European style. Through, still for me it looks like more a sabre. What i called falchion, has wider blade and is more like, well, butcher axe. Yes, like it indeed, because falchions cuts like axe. They lack durability of axes still. What i know, falchions was against chainmails pretty cruel weapons. Like it is sayed; They cuts armours.. and men.. More? I drooling for old and ancient weapons and armours ^^

There should have been a section on different types of Fedora hats because owning a sword now a days often goes hand in hand with it.

but then there would have to be another section on different types of XXL brightly colored Hawaiian/anime-print shirts, and owning different kinds of neck beards, which also go hand in hand with swords and fedoras these days.

Well, if we're going for bear killing, a spear would be much more useful. Killing a bear with a sword would be dangerous, because you have to get within claw range to use it. But technically, there's still a possibility that it COULD be done, no? I'm just kidding, who would kill a bear? They are the furry giants of the forest (much like the yeti, except more real).

I can't believe nobody even mentioned "i think swords are neat do you think swords are neat!!" I mentioned it in the comments on the page, then Tom added that little bitty that the white box represents the internet? Which, you know. Sure. (I still don't really admit to getting it).

Anyone else train/practice swordmanship? I do Kendo I'm in Kung fu, so eventually I'll be learning to use a jian. That's a long, long way away, though. I need to learn the most advanced form before I can move onto the sword.

Anyone else train/practice swordmanship? I do Kendo I used to do Escrima, a Filipino style which is mostly concerned with short bamboo sticks, but also uses machetes, balisongs (butterfly knives) and shortswords. The latter mostly because they are very heavy and are good for building muscle.

I did kendo for four years, and now I play around with maculele, which is a part of capoeira that is dancing with machetes.
Bladed objects. They are fun.

I think it'd be scalpel or something with more practical use than intimidating/fighting.
