hooray! Away from conflict-inducing discussions on abuse and on to less combustible topics. . . like creating artificial life!

And Kat keeps writing history, and keeps being utterly oblivious about it.

In the chest and shoulder part it looks like the less saturated, parts are flexible, the more saturated parts look like stiff support; in the arm itself it looks like the other way around. Weird. Hard to say with that thing deactivated though. Looks to me like this is drawn like a 'bash that's just been put together for a test. Support Cable #1 from the left in panel 1 (#1 from the right in panel 3) goes into Robot's back, not the prototype, so I'm not sure he's even mobile right now. The arm was assembled as a unit which is why it looks more "together" and the myomer or organic fibers that connect it to the chassis have temporary support (physical and technical) across the chest; they would normally be covered by a chest-plate/carapace/whatever. Robot's neck and waist look a lot thicker than normal. Kat may have built another robot body for these experiments so Robot can use his old body in between experiments. It doesn't look like this shoulder and arm detaches from the body very easily. If true, then Kat's idea of an Übermensch (Überkunstleben?) seems hunky.

That control panel at the center of the chest looks unimportant right now, but I have some vague recollection of obvious-looking buttons being a Seraph's downfall on multiple occasions.

Being considered and Angel and a Prophet wasn't enough, was it, Kat? You are shooting for full Godhood... This is so going into Dresden Codak's Sexy Robot Elohim territory... Remind me, was it not established previously that the Court's robots act in collusion with one another? After the Torn Sea debacle, you'd think Kat would be smarter than to just blithely walking right into Robot's plans like that. We do know, but Kat doesn't. As a matter of fact, she believes Robot and Robot King saved them.

Kat better be careful. Those hair tusks could put an eye out. (I think I preferred Paz's previous 'do).

Dang, that was a lot of progress over the summer. And it looks like Paz is not going to be as much of a distraction from robotics for Kat now. Granted, Paz has seen a glimpse of Kat's potential. As Kat's girlfriend, she has reason to be excited and encouraging about the bio-robotics rather than apprehensive about this vision. I expect either Renard and Annie to show up mid-chapter, or for next chapter to begin: Kat: "You cut yourself in half?!"

If true, then Kat's idea of an Übermensch (Überkunstleben?) seems hunky. To be fair, it is probably easier to work on large muscle constructs than small ones, since the fine details are more accessible when scaled up. I'd be perfectly happy with a buff Robot, but I would be even happier with a buff Shadow.

Given the way she's subsequently tacked, might it have been unconsciously over-compensating with +5 pecs of buffness?

That said, I'm perfectly straight and I often wouldn't mind having the superpower of open-tough-jars and carry-heavy-boxes.

So, this is the second time robot has had an arm replaced. Last time it was his right arm. gunnerkrigg.com/?p=99Now it's his left arm. Symbolism?

That part which is Robot is his CPU. Everything else is just a short term accessory. If you swapped his programming/memories into a new CPU/HDD, would it still be Robot or would it be a new being?

That's a good question, and opinions vary... (the one with the chair is an alien in an envirosuit, NOT a robot.)
