I've seen my dogs do the in-out-out sniff at things they then go on to sniff even harder and/or steal, so to me it seems like a sign of interest.

I've seen my dogs do the in-out-out sniff at things they then go on to sniff even harder and/or steal, so to me it seems like a sign of interest. At the very least a conscious sniff is a sign of awareness of a potential change in the environment. Something of note is/was/will be near or has/is/will happen(d). |
