Personally, I think it looks prettier than before! I think I have a new career in landscaping design, of the (hah!) deconstructivist style. *snicker* It takes the labor of a thousand robots to match My most casual gesture! You can see why the Court is so jealous that they try to match My power *flattered*And look at that smile on My Fire-Head Girl's face! See how only My godly intervention could reignite her fire, hidden for so long! *grins wildly* Welcome back, My friend! I've missed you so!

Do we know who they are?
The tall black-haired one could be Smitty, but the other one looks like they have cat ears. I don't think we've seen anyone like that.

I think the second person is that snail that became human in the chapter Tall tales.
EDIT: rabbit, not snail.

And it looks like the rabbit is waiting for Annie. I wonder if he'll be the one to discover the wonders of rubik's cube. (Edit: yeah, on closer look I'm pretty sure that's a rubik's cube in his hands) (Are those ears on his head?)

Great to see the casual anger of coyote could have possibly injured or killed a significant number of people Wow Annie looks kind of broken still, but at least she giving a small smile now.

If your friends won't literally knock down a building to make you come hang out with them then they're not true friends.
Oh hey Carver, there's that smile I've missed.

That's a good theory, right up until we see the smoking rubble of the "little building" Coyote knocked over in the next chapter. Cookies for you!

Damn. I was looking forward to a retelling of Coyote's story, from everyone else's point of view It does look like Bunny-boy has the cube. I wonder if he's interested in Smitty's ability.

heh Rabbit is a sweet little nerd boy like my best friend in middle school <3 I'm sure the long hair with the two "cowlicks" is an attempt to represent the lost ears. As a Yank I confess to seeing what looked like cowboy boots first and thinking, "What new character is this?" Nice boots, Annie. As a former real estate brokerage admin, my heart stopped when I saw the damaged buildings were apparently blocks of flats, and then I realized, oh yeah, Gunnerkrigg, where buildings grow wild and free and unencumbered of zoning laws and eminent domain and landlords and tenants and trivial stuff like that.

I think Coyote would see little difference between escargot and hasenpfeffer. If your friends won't literally knock down a building to make you come hang out with them then they're not true friends. Oh hey Carver, there's that smile I've missed. I'm happy to see that smile too It seems time with Coyote actually did do her good. I...would not have predicted that. And that building looks pretty uninhabited, since we see inside of several rooms in panel 2 and there's no furniture or decorations. It could have all been removed first, but that seems like a huge waste of effort. So until there's future contradiction, I'm going to assume that the building was empty when Coyote demolished it. Plus, considering how few people live in the Court compared to how large of a space it seems to occupy, the chance of the building holding many people is very small indeed.

Wow. I wouldn't have expected Coyote Therapy to work, but she smiles. And, I think the promise was either 'be the forest medium' or 'help the forest citizens who live in the court now'. And I don't think anybody was in that building, except maybe robots - they're the only ones around, and if humans were in there, I would have expected ambulances and rescue/retrieval teams.
I'm still suspicious, though, and I kind of want to see the Anthony-epiphany from Annies or his perspective. He certainly wasn't coerced by the court, and wasn't forced by Coyote, but... Coyote making him see what he'd done before? He sees Annie all the time, how could he NOT see what he was doing for weeks (at least, if not Months).

Coyote making him see what he'd done before? He sees Annie all the time, how could he NOT see what he was doing for weeks (at least, if not Months). "None so blind as those who will not see", naturally. And nothing like preferring to see something else to make you unwilling to see what really is there. In fact the original source of the quotation could be read with an eye not only to Anthony's worldview, but also to the way the Court operates within nature and the Aether: They have eyes, but they see not, ears, but they hear not, like the idols which they made and worshipped, Ps. 115:5, 6, 8. One would have thought that they took notice of things, but really they did not; they had intellectual faculties and capacities, but they did not employ and improve them as they ought. Herein they disappointed the expectations of all their neighbours, who, observing what excellent means of knowledge they had, concluded, Surely they are a wise and an understanding people (Deut. 4:6), and yet really they are a foolish people and without understanding. Note, We cannot judge of men by the advantages and opportunities they enjoy: there are those that sit in darkness in a land of light, that live in sin even in a holy land, that are bad in the best places. 2. Their wills were stubborn and unapt to submit to the rules of the divine law (Jer. 5:23): This people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; and no wonder when they were foolish and without understanding, Ps. 82:5. Nay, it is the corrupt bias of the will that bribes and besots the understanding: none so blind as those that will not see. -- Matthew Henry, Bible Commentary

In this case we know how this is going to end, don't we?.. Annie will be cuddle-piled and called stupid, again. The first time it helped... I for some reason imagine Jones prescribing her regular exposure to Foleys. Or not - the snake-dude was not one of the transformed, after all. Either way, cuteness is imminent and Annie is going to be ruthlessly moeblobbed.

I'm just happy that there's debris. I was concerned that this chapter might have been just Smitface telling a bedtime story to the Antimonies.

I just noticed. The rabbit is playing with the rubik cube shown in the chapter preview. A way to show his intelligence, I suppose.

Since when Gunnerkrigg Court became some kind of NeoTokyo? Next thing we see, would be Kat's Evangelions prancing about...

The idea that the other person is the (former) rabbit would make sense. Perhaps then Annie's promise to Coyote was to take care of him, or at least go greet him?

Let's hope that the building was indeed empty and that there were no casualties. It would be unsettling storytelling if there were casualties but Tom chose to focus on Annie and Smith and the third character (the rabbit-boy, apparently) rather than on the people who'd been killed by Coyote's tantrum and their grieving friends and family.

It would be unsettling storytelling if there were casualties but Tom chose to focus on Annie and Smith and the third character (the rabbit-boy, apparently) rather than on the people who'd been killed by Coyote's tantrum and their grieving friends and family. We already saw the aftermath: lots of rubble, no bodies. Besides, Coyote the almighty god wanted to display his bad mood, not make Fire Head Girl angry at him. Don't you think she would be very angry if he'd been careless enough to pick a building with people in it? And wouldn't it completely ruin the actual point of this scene (Annie freed by her father) to have people actually die because of it? What kind of storyteller would add coffins to this? I'm really not sure why people worry about this, as if it was a serious option that we'd get a mass burial of innocent families next page.
