I feel like Coyote is already at the meeting and just started telling this story there. I'd like to see how both Eglamore and Ysengrin react to our split Annie. Ysengrin might go all Ysengrin on them

Does this make you wonder how Coyote reacted when Renard was captured?
Edited to add: Obviously, there are many differences between their situations including Coyote's own involvement in them, but it does make me curious.

Also...those trees! I think I would love to see some artwork from Tom that was just these trees.

*Shudder* Do you think we are safe this side of the screen? I maybe should take a break from the net for a few months...

What'll be interesting is seeing when all this is going on. Before this last chapter? During? After?

I doubt it will work though... I still like the idea of the "Lords of the Court" (an appealing new term for the higher-ups, by the way) having miscalculated - particularly since we know they did so once before when they tried tricking Reynardine. It led to the very thing they were trying to avert: Renard agreeing to accept one of Coyote's powers from him. This could be another moment that shows they're human beings and subject to mistakes.

*Shudder* Do you think we are safe this side of the screen? Foolish human! Why would you even contemplate such a silly question?

I zoomed in on it and agree that it seems to be an exploded view of his eye. (Ouch!) Yes, I agree it is an exploded view of his eye. But to me it still looks like a bottle (of beer on the wall, take one down and choke in it, one less Coyote and bottle of beer on the wall)! Terrible blasphemy. You should never waste spirits like that. Interesting. If Coyote sees Annie he will probably recognize what she has done to herself. There could be interesting consequences if he reveals that. And if he sees Kat he more than anyone else is likely to have an idea of what she is becoming. I could see him not revealing that. Too much potential for fun letting that play out. That will be an interesting meeting, someday. Neither Coyote nor Ysengrin have met Kat yet(that I'm aware of). It will be interesting to know what Coyote sees her as, but from how Kat saw the RotD, I'm wondering how she'll see Coyote. Considering his "nature"/"origins", what if she sees nothing at all?

I think it's Coyote telling this story, not Annie. She wouldn't name Ysengrin "mean old Ysengrin", and to call the Court a "cold dark place" also seems to be more Coyote's tone. Even the sparky way his name is written, I feel like that's something Coyote would do.
But what will Coyote do about all this? In the end, the Court can say that "Miss Carver resigned from her position" as a forest medium, on the surface they have nothing to do with it. And Coyote is bound by his promise to not harm the Court or anyone in it, so threatening godly wrath probably won't work too well. Will he try to trick them in some way? If he can demand a meeting with Antimony to hear from her own mouth that she resigns as a medium, that could have interesting consequences.

Adhering to the letter of the promise but not the spirit is just the kind of thing a trickster would do.

Because there are a lot of ways to be dangerously inconvenient without actually harming someone, even if the inconveniences eventually become harmful.

The forest signal is red... Or it is white with a red outline so it shows up better against the black background. We don't know if it actually looked this way or it is just a Coyote story telling flourish. His name is also in red letters throughout the narrative so far. I went back and checked the first sightings of the signals. They are both white light with different colored outlines, green for the forest and red for the Court. Hmm... Annie may be the story's narrator but in segments like this she would be quoting a source, Coyote.

We don't know, and on the forest side it probably wasn't written down anyway. AFAIK the promise is not to interfere in Court business. Anyway...And welcome storyteller!

The forest signal is red... Clearly, now that Party Master Tony is kickin' it in the bio department, the Lords of the Court will break out the appropriate response signal.

Annie may be the story's narrator but in segments like this she would be quoting a source, Coyote. Annie *was* the story's narrator, but Tom seems to have moved away from that after Chapter Fifteen. (Except for the MicroSat chapter.) Thought on the meeting: Coyote might announce that: a) he does not accept Annie's resignation. b) he will not replace her, not even with a substitute medium and c) that any further negotiations between the Court and Gilltie Wood require mediums on both sides, meaning that the Court would have to choose between withdrawing its restrictions on Annie or having no diplomatic dealings with the forest. (They might decide on the latter - but I imagine that Coyote will at least get to watch them squirm for a while, which would certainly delight him.)

Plot twist: the Court says "nope", so now Coyote has to find a way to sneak into the Court.

chryopraxQuestion: If Coyote only acts for his own pleasure, I imagine he'd be quite upset if someone ruined his fun. I also imagine that very bad things happen when Coyote is upset. Tom:You have no idea.
