I'm still bewildered as to why there are all these theories about Parley being really a boy in disguise, or having a brother whom we haven't met yet. Smith's remark seemed simple to me: Parley's father got all three of his predictions wrong. Instead of having a son named George who would be a psychic, he had a daughter named Parley who wasn't a psychic. I don't think we need to come up with convoluted alternate explanations for the last panel. Alternatively, he did have a son named George who does have psychic powers.

...what's the third prediction todd? I think that the most important quality of being a medium is to be "neutral" which is really hard. I don't think Parley is a boy; however she might be named George or Georgia Maybe she does have some psych powers, and I'm thinking here about her fighting style... maybe she get's a couple seconds of future events... not much for fortune-telling, but a great advantage to have in a fight on that theory, if that was the case, and she got only brief glimpses of the immediate future, even that would be useful during a mediation session, because she'd have an idea of what the other people were going to do right before they did anything, and it would give her that needed edge. also, its something that Jones might be aware of, but not Smith. In Smith's case, he has a way of showing off what he does, something like the deck of cards makes an excellent demonstration, but really, how would Parley be able to show of something like immediate forsight, if she does indeed have something like that as a gift?

I think that the context suggests that Smith is poking fun at a failed prediction - both the "Yeah, he's so good" part (apparently sarcasm), and the angry look on Parley's face. It would be the same kind of thing as saying "Yes, he's so educated that he thinks the Tennis Court Oath is what somebody says when he loses a game of tennis."
Maybe Tom was too subtle here.

Yeah, I think so. Parley's blushing. It's not just a failed prediction; it's a failed prediction Parley's especially ashamed of.

More of a prediction which didnt work out too well and she's been sorta taking flak from it most of her life. It IS exceedingly embaressing all this. PLus its been so since before her birth...
