I hope so. I don't know what the armchair means but... Let's just hope.

Just a guess from the painting this takes place in Antony's home

The question is... What isn't in the chair?
It's a very masculine chair, turned toward the sun (if those little glimmers are dust motes in a sunbeam, very sweet, that). You would expect Reynardine to be curled up in it, or perhaps Anthony himself. Just a thought.

Oh thank god. Just the single word title Sneak gives me hope that Annie, Kat or both will begin to circumvent Anthony's superiority from the previous chapter.
That last chapter was SO painful to read (but very well done) that I am ready for the revolt to begin.
Viva la revolution!

Shadow of a ladder?

I took that to be shadow of window panes. Edit: Looking closer I think you are right.

I took that to be shadow of window panes. Edit: Looking closer I think you are right. Looking at the tiny thumbnail for this chapter at the bottom of the page, where we see the chair from the reverse angle facing a bay window, I'd say it's definitely the shadow of the window frame. Question: does it not resemble the bay window in Eglamore's house seen in Quicksilver (panel 4 here)? Edit: Ninja'd by Keef

Clearly it's a ladder over windows. Kat put it there to help Annie sneak away. And Anthony is sitting in the chair, watching them.

It does look more like a ladder to me, than the reflection of the windows. This title page made me happy. Hooray shenanigans! However we might be distressed by the changes in Annie's life, it's very good storytelling that shakes up the status quo and makes the characters grow yet more! It's life-like. At least how my life has been. The moment you relax and think everything is fine, something horrible happens. And then you have to figure it out, deal with it, grow.

Well now... so someone's going to be sneaking around? If it's Annie, that means things are looking up for her. I'm very hopeful.

This chapter doesn't look much like a "Sneak" to me. More like a "Chair".
Chair.

I thought this was the furnishings in Annie's new digs. It is ... a Comfy Chair!
I didn't expect Tony to be a Dominican Friar. (Although he *is* good at extracting confessions.)

The next chapter will be about a semi-sentient chair that goes around sneaking, and devouring people who sit in it.
This is why the chair is empty.
(It ate Anthony.)

What I find strange is that Anthony expects her to be a good girl and do what he says and yet she has to live on her own and care for herself? Question marks because latter isn't confirmed.

turned toward the sun (if those little glimmers are dust motes in a sunbeam, very sweet, that). To me it looks like there's fire in the foreground, just out of sight. Looks way more like floating embers than dust motes. But I might be biased by how I'm hoping things will go. :V

Not to mention that it allows Tom to challenge himself. The big change means that he can't write (for now) the conventional stories about Annie creeping around the Court's hallways, trying to discover more about its secrets. (Like temporarily stripping your characters of their super-powers, gadgets, etc. so that you have to come up with more inventive ways for them to do something.)

He might be in the same living quarters as she is; as far as I can recall, he hasn't said otherwise. (Or he might have some high-tech security systems to watch over her - probably ones that Kat can't easily hack into or deceive.)

The daring Gunnerkrigg Court/Homestar Runner crossover has FINALLY begun. It's about time.
It would be an interesting chapter, for Kat and Annie to try to sneak around Tony's imagined security. Both of them could plan for and jump at nonexistent threats. They could make a fun night of it, using the chair as a safe base. Of course, the chair could secretly be a robot (à la Transformers), leaving their shenanigans for not and their paranoia doubly valid.
Then again, the sneaking doesn't have to be from the girls. We haven't heard from the GC adults, concerning the last chapter. It was so short, how could we? It could be a sneaky meeting behind Kat's back, by Egg's and her parents.
I'm sure all our questions will be answered Monday, Tic-Tocs and all. That's how this works, right?
EDIT: As an explanation, I was hoping The Sneak was The Cheat's GC cousin. I hadn't had coffee yet, therefore not in a right state.

On the inconvenience to everyone pageHis phrasing goes as "you will be rooming on your own nearby"; I don't think Anthony is Planning to inconvenience himself with having to spend out of class time with Annie.

I'm guessing... a flashback chapter? To more benign and innocent times, something maybe involving Kat or some other kids, by chance?
