Oh, the anticipation. Motivation, Anthony, and it better be a good one.
(Yes, I know Tom won't go into it that soon.)

Hmmm. "Very good", coming from Anthony, is rather kind. But it appears that Annie will indeed need a book. Poor Annie, with that timid stance with her hands folded in unobtrusively. But still nice to see her smile at Kat Prepare for arguments over whether we'll see a double-subversion of Tony's personality on Wednesday! The waiting... The waiting is hell. Preach it! Next Page: "I am so sorry, can you ever forgive me?!" But no. Anthony does not forgive her. Ouch. That one hit my soul.

Hmmm. "Very good", coming from Anthony, is rather kind. It's the first day. The students haven't had a chance to really disappoint him yet; wait until they have to demonstrate they've done something with the material other than listen to it quietly.

I think the issue here that's tripping up people trying to defend Anthony's behavior is they've forgotten Tom's track record. Every single time we're presented with a reclusive male with ambiguous motives, people think maybe they'll be an alright person, and every time they turn out to be monsters. We thought Diego was a cool robotics nerd but he ended up orchestrating the murder of his unrequited crush. We though Jack might fancy Katerina, and he turned out to be mind-controled by ethereal spiders who wanted to... take over reality or something. We thought Reynardine had some kind of tumultuous romance with Surma, and it turned out he was just some schmuck she'd led on until he killed an innocent person just for a chance to get physically close to her. It's a law of the Gunnerkriggverse that males with ambiguous backgrounds always turn out to have the worst possible intentions.
I don't need characterization to know that whatever comes next is Anthony being horrible to Antimony, I know it will happen because that's what Tom always does.

Honestly I've heard "very good" used quite often as a general form of affirmation, more like "alright, rules are that I can't keep you past the bell, further reading is recommended" rather than any manner of congratulations. If you took my interpretation.

I wouldn't really call Jack or Renard monsters though. Jack was mind-controlled and Renard was blinded by love.

Annie has that nervous/hopeful look. The smile at Kat, she expects this to be finally something good!
I am totally expecting her to have a soul-crushing admonishment from Anthony. Something curt and completely impersonal.

Discussing the chemical makeup of nucleic acids to starting Year 10s who, if ancient memory serves, haven't even covered covalent bonding yet? Could be. I suspect poor old Antimony is about to be taken elsewhere, leaving poor old Kat in suspense.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! [read in Donald Duck voice] Can't wait!!! But if it is just for him to discipline her as a teacher, I'll be so damn disappointed. If he's going to just discipline her, he's got to put some personal touch there, some paternal disappointment with his daughter's lack of effort in school. But I hope there will be more to that. If Anthony will remain just cold and distant to Annie for all the story, in my opinion that's hell of a lot of character potential wasted.
By the way, will he hand Annie the textbook? I bet he will!

you should use a quote as the title This. Thousand times this. And also, use it to begin with and not change it afterwards. Imo, we should have commented to Daedalus's thread, because it was first correctly made one.

Very curious to see what's going to happen on the next page. These first few pages have really been set-up, showing how much of an ass Anthony is. I suspect we're going to see the consequences of that on the next page. I'm hoping someone stands up to him. I predict on the next page, class will be over and there won't be any time left for someone to stand up to him. Either Annie nervously talks to him after class, or it'll take place out in the hall between Annie and Kat.
