What is this finger I see?? Is this some form of affection from Jones? I disagree about cute couple... I don't think I could see Eglamore with someone that always has such a blase expression.

Maybe she just overdid it on the Botox. That might also explain her unwillingness to identify herself with the technology & stuff that the Court represents.

I don't think Jones is a love interest, to me it looks far more like she's blind.
Why else would she need to touch Eglamore's hair to comment on it's length? It also explains her otherwise extremely expressionless eyes (although her entire face is expressionless).

Actually it's over one and a half there. The conclusion that Jones is short and Eglamore is tall seems about right. Actually Jones being blind would explain a whole lot... except for the staring, of course.

Having had a blind person in the family, and going to school with some. I can say from experience that they tend to more or less look towards your face during conversation using the sound of your voice as a reference point. That was in a reasonable situation though, it was harder for them to do so in a noisy environment. On the topic of blind people you might want to have a look at this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLziFMF4DHAThe guy uses echolocation, apparently one in a handful of people in America who can (although this documentary says he's the only one). Amazing stuff.

I'm not sure if I trust those accounts.
I "lost my faith", as it were, when one of them claimed he could play videogames and watch TV using his echolocation.

Woo hoo! So Jones and James definitely are or have been lovers. Look at the tender expression on James' face when he is caressed!
Theory A: Love quadrangle - James was into Surma who went for Anthony. Jones was into Anthony who went for Surma. James and Jones consoled each other... Though James is still touched by Annie looking like Surma, and Jones is still pissed off at "devoid of emotions" Anthony. Now the big question is, who is REALLY Annie's father??
Theory B: Eglamore is a hound who's had his nose up every female faculty member's skirt, EVEN "cool as a cucumber" Jones.

You're all blind--blinded by hormones, I think. This is not lust, but a different kind of affection between the two characters. If Jones didn't look so young and foxy, I'd bet she's Eglamore's mummy. As it is, perhaps she's his older sister. As for him growing longer hair again; he had long hair in this photo.

As it is, perhaps she's his older sister. I though this might be possible as well. And it's possible that she just aged well, especially if she is from the forest or some other spooky place.

This is very weird, since Jones is not the-girl-in-the-picture, we have little reference to go by, we don't even know if they went to school together... and I don't see why you can rule out that they were at some point in a relationship...the only photo we have of Anthony shows him in a very Jone's fashion of no emotion...and he still made it to be a husband and a father, didn't he?

I really don't think Eglamore was seeing Jones, as he still screams for Surma constantly... and usually unrequited love kind of stays that way... I think it's just because Eglamore is just over all a really nice guy.

Now the real question is, in the picture where Jones is touching Eglamore's hair... is the square or circle figure in the background Parley? hehe...

they could just have a brother-sister or mother-son type relationship, they don't have to be related.

Body language indicates affection. My thoughts being just what Tom wrote "whats all this?!"
Annie burns, looks at how Annie BURRRRNS.
well no...but she's certainly considering the situation with great thought and focus.

Or at the very least, they're ex-lovers who are still fond of each other. 376 was a pretty unambiguous "WTF? Well I certainly didn't see that coming" page.

Hi everyone! An idea struck me after seeing this page, and I had to register just to post it because, well, because. :) Anyway, seeing Jones' interaction with Eglamore didn't strike me as anything more than long-time friendship at the most. Actually, I got the feeling that Jones and James were referring to older times than any kind of romantic relationships which could have formed between the two of them. More likely, in my opinion, that James has been restricting himself to the short hair cut we're used to for quite a few years, actually.
Now, when I got this idea, it then occurred to me that maybe James was growing his hair out only during his time with the other kids, particularly Surma. Not just the hair too, though I don't have anything more than wild theories regarding these 'other' things so I won't waste your time with them. But if he had as strong an affection for Surma, I can see him... oh, heck, I dunno where I'm going with this really. :/ I'm not quite saying that I see him shearing his hair down to an army-regulation cut in response to losing Surma or anything. More like... After Surma 'chose' Anthony over James (and I chose that particular wording because it fits both scenarios whereby James and Surma actually had a relationship sometime before she ended up with Anthony, or where James only crushed on Surma while she saw him as a very good friend) James decided to focus on his duties as he saw them at that point? I think that's the best way to express this tiny idea I have lurking in the corners of my mind, you know? And now that Surma is dead, and Antimony is attending school in Surma's place, as it were, perhaps James is either a) using Antimony's presence to come to terms with his feeling for Surma and growing out his hair again as a show of reconciliation; or b) using Antimony's presence and her uncanny resemblance to Surma to regain a bit of that 'lost' relationship he once had? Not that I think Eglamore is falling in love with Antimony or anything - just that I sort of think that in his attempts to develop a friendship with Antimony he hopes he can accomplish some personal goal in coming to terms with his loss.
Anyways, that was what I took out of reading today's update. Thus, Jones' comment regarding James growing out his hair might be as simple as her being aware of James' feelings from the past and wondering about the significance of this new change in her friend. At least, that's what I took out of my reading of this page.
My, I think this is the most I have ever said on any subject for the last year or so; it's been a while since I bothered with any real contact of any kind with anyone outside the family, really. Hope no one was too confused by my rambling, and that I was clear in what I was trying to say. Thanks for keeping up with me. :)

That finger on the chin strikes me as too friendly for platonic affection or siblings. Though if Jones and Eggers were currently an item, she probably would have already known about the hair.
I thought Vega's comment on the front page was interesting:
