A sketch? absolutely interested if you're up for it! But I'm with everyone else's concern with S+H to the US~
(I have persuaded the New England Comics chain to pick it up when it's published! Of course by 'persuaded' I mean something like this: Me: Hey. Them: Hi. Me: *points to blurb in Diamond* So, that's pretty smashing and you should get it. Them: ... Them: Done. Me: kthnxbai :B )
...true story.

Also a quick question for anyone who sees this; Would any of you be interested in buying copies directly from me for a little extra if they were signed or included a sketch? With the book now being up for preorder on Amazon, could we get an update on this plan? I'd love to get a signed copy. PS - I apologise if this has been adressed elsewhere, I couldn't find any related threads.

How come it's going to be so much more expensive in the UK then in the US? At this rate, it might even be cheaper to buy from the US and pay for international shipping...

I wouldn't mind a signed one if the shipping the the US is feasible. this is also my situation. only more enthusiastic about obtaining a signed book or whatever you choose.

Just ordered my copy on Amazon. It's currently #499 in books and #2 in Comics on the UK site. That's pretty awesome.

Well, that's just silly. Possibly even frivolous.

Does the book include the author's comments at the bottom of each page? This is an absolute dealbreaker.

In that case the book is not for you.

Does the book include the author's comments at the bottom of each page? This is an absolute dealbreaker. Why would you need those? Most of the first ones have already been erased from the interwebs, and while I admit there are some very good ones there (I loved the comment for 389), the book isn't being published as a webcomic but as a graphic novel.

Per, if you must have Tom's commentary and you're okay with altering your book, you can buy a gel pen and write Tom's comments in the black borders on each page.

I'm kind of a "waaah write in books are you crazy" person, but I could probably learn to live with captionlessness. Hopefully they'll survive for all time somewhere on the webz though. I'm only making a fuss about this because I usually love the captions and think they definitely add another dimension to many of the comics.

i've actually considered buying two copies so i could write the comments in one and have the other untouched. i definitely agree that the captions add to the experience but i'm also interested in having the book as is
edit: now that i'm thinking about it, it's kind of like having the directors commentary option on a DVD

I think it makes sense to leave the captions out in the published version, for the reason that Vadigor gave. Also, some of them have undermined the tone of the more serious pages (such as when, on one of the pages that Kat and Alistair are parting forever, the caption reads "You've got to admit it's a big haul, Kat" - referring to Alistair telling her that she can have all his things); I'm not surprised that Tom chose to have no captions for the pages when Annie was speaking to Martin.
Not that all the captions are that way. I liked the one in Chapter Three where Tom was explaining how he wanted to make certain that Annie didn't seem to be gloating over being able to judo flip Winsbury - that she was dealing with him because he was a bully picking on her best friend who just happened to be a boy - for example. But I think that some of the more comical ones have the disadvantage of puncturing the mood (when it's serious enough) or drawing attention away from the important things taking place to a couple of extras or some other side-issue.

It would be usefull if Tom could give us some more information about the special/autographed edition. Now I'm not sure if I should preorder the book on Amazon or not

Would love a signed/sketched-in copy as well! And seeing as I'm in London, the shipping would certainly be faster than the 3-4 weeks currently offered by Amazon.co.uk. Hopefully might be able to get a better price than the current £=$ ratio too (which I'm sure is just greed on Amazon's part)!
In any case, will be holding off the pre-order until we get more details of this.

You know as much about them as I do. Right now it's looking like they are not very likely, at least not for a while. Also if people are concerned about shipping costs I'll probably just write them off completely as a bad idea. It's easier to get the book off Amazon. At least then they won't be marked.

It won't. Amazon always try to guess at the release date. When I have a proper date I will post it.
