Looks like it's time to make the announement. A few months ago my comic was picked up by Archaia Studio Press and a 300 page hardcover book should be published for May. The book will be the first 14 chapters, everything up until the Second Treatise page (Bonus 14) all printed up real professional like. Gunnerkrigg Court: Orientation is basically what would have been the first two books (if I'd continued self-publishing) combined into one large volume so you don't have to worry about missing out on the original Lulu version. For those of you who did buy the Lulu book, Orientation should be about the same price, despite being more than twice as long and professionally printed. I've been asked a lot of times about what will happen with regards to printing and I never wanted to give a definite answer even though I've had this news for a while now. Mainly because I didn't want to make a big ol' announcement months before anything happened, but also because you can never be sure how things turn out. It looks like things are go with Gunnerkrigg Court: Orientation, so I'm hoping it will be out for May and available in comic/book shops. When the time comes I might need to ask for your help asking local booksellers to get it in stock. I'll keep you updated on things as they move along; I don't even know what will happen myself! I'll mention this on the site with Monday's update. In the meantime, here is a little pre-preview on Newsarama: forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=144403

O the joy! O the happiness!
I saw that some of their comics are available at Amazon. If that holds true for GC: Orientations, I'll surely buy, at least, two.

I guess if it's a normal book with an ISBN number your local book store will be able to get it.
Do you already know what the pricing will be and how much you'll get out of it?

I know the guy who owns the bookshop in Basildon, maybe I can convince him to order some in. I can also feed a few into the local library

I saw Archaia's 'Mouseguard' in a mainstream bookshop [Borders I think] in Oxford, so they must have some sort of distribution outside the specialist stores. No doubt it will be listed in 'Previews' fairly soon.

I am so going to get my hands on this book! Sadly, Norway isn't the best place for getting stuff like this... Jeje. Even though I really hope it will be possible to place an order online, it shouldn't be a problem to get someone to buy it for me in the US of A. Then it's just a postal matter Will go enquire (read: nag & plead) at my local weird comic/cartoon/general subculture strangeness-shops though - the least I can do for this comic and Tom is a bit of advertisin'

As everyone else said, YES!!! I've gotten quite a few friends into GC, but they don't like using the computer so much. Now I can force them to read it in book form!

It looks so pretty. If I can't order it from the UK, I'm so getting some of my US friends to buy it for me!
(Also I was a fool and posted my congrats in the old publishing query thread ... *facepalm* )

There was a nice full page ad for the hardback in this month's 'Previews', so it will be available through Diamond in this country at least.

That's awesome. If anyone goes to a comic shop you should ask them to order it in. I'll have to stop by the couple comic shops here in Birmingham and see what they say.

I wonder if they'll have an online mail order service. Have it posted here.
that will probably need a credit card though. Well plenty of kids will be borrowing [ahem*] their parents' cards.

(Also I was a fool and posted my congrats in the old publishing query thread ... *facepalm* ) well, if it makes you feel any better i didn't notice this thread till i saw your comment in the other one (and then frantically searched the site for confirmation) ... i tend to ignore the pinned threads since they don't usually change *sweatdrop* also, Huzzah! a book! if i happen to get to the bookstore (which is 40 minutes away, geeze i live in the sticks) i'll see if i can convince them to get it (cause then i don't have to pay shipping ;D)

Wheee, I am proud of myself now, I stopped by the comic book and other strangeness-shop today and asked them if they would order it in. The guy hadn't heard of it, but I gave him the address and he said if they thought it fit the kind of stuff they sell and there weren't a lot of technical difficulties, maybe they would do it! Wooii! Go me the advertiser
