I don't often stick around forums, but I think I'm going to try to here. One of the reasons I ususally get bored of forums is because of the mass amounts of idiots that tend to crop up and flame everyone. But I'm not seeing that here yet, so I figure I'll be around for awhile, anyway.

Lurkers if you are afraid of getting insulted or your ideas trashed, just post anyway, if somebody does get out of line, report it to a moderator and let them ban the "bully". Please post.

Yay for more introduction posting. rastarogue has a point about taking it to a moderator a long time before it gets out of hand- eventually this forum will get to the point where the moderators cannot read every post, so they'll need us to be responsible and tell them when something is going on. ^^

Thanks. Still looking at the number of posts each person has is kinda depressing. Some people have over 100(Aspen), a few over 50 (myself and a few others), maybe ten have 12 posts or so, and the rest have 1 or 0. PLEASE POST PEOPLE. out of 247+ views there are 37 posts, mostly by the same people.

That said, remember that some threads don't NEED a lot of posts, especially from the same person. Post Count != Respectability. (yeah, I know I'm a good one to talk)

intimidation. honestly it's a little weird that a forum that started, what, a week ago can already have experienced members but such seems to be the case.

I find it weird that someone can already have managed to make over a hundred posts – I feel like I've posted loads, but I'm still under fifty. That's no offense to anyone, though.

I have difficulty keeping up with even one forum. I don't get a lot of time sit around reading forums, so I end up having to pick just a few threads to read during the short time I have. For instance, I've got to get back to work as soon as I finish typing this. I've only read maybe 1/3 of the threads that have updated since the last time I checked the forum. One of my first posts here was basically just pointing out something that had already been discussed in another thread which I hadn't read. It was a minor offense and I wasn't flamed or anything, but I don't require the disapproval of others to feel like an idiot. As more people start posting and the forum expands, I'll be able to read a smaller and smaller percentage of the active threads. My fear of posting something that's not new and doesn't contribute anything will get to the point that I probably won't post anything in any story discussion/theory threads.

Tell me about it... I keep looking at my post count and thinking 'Have I been double posting? How the hell did that get so high?!' but I look at what I posted and only see a few that I probably shouldn't have.

I usually have a slow start. Also, I'm sure a lot of people (such as myself) have other forums in which they are very active and have lasting friendships in. These take first priority, and sometimes if I have other things to do, that's the only place I go. Also, This is very new, so i forget it exists. But I am trying to post more! Truly! XD

Don't worry! Having a high post count does not equal respect if you're posting silly off-topic things. I'd much rather see af ew well thought otu things than a high post count... That said, don't kill someone if they post off-topic every once in a while. Just if it looks like they're trying to up their post count for no reason.

No, I know. Usually I will only respond if I have something to say... It actually kind of annoys me when people have like thousands of posts within the first two hours. On one of the forums I'm at, which I've been at for almost two years, I have around 2000 or 2500 posts. Another girl, who's been there since August, has like 5000. But I'm much more likely to be taken seriously, since I post intelligently and add things to a discussion.

I know I have trouble posting when I have trouble navigating a forum. Everything is lumped in one big discussion thread, and I never feel I can stay on top of the posts, whereas I could concentrate my efforts on the subsections I was interested in if there were more divisions. E.g. one for comments on the episodes, one for art related things, and one for posts like this, or something. I dunno.

E.g. one for comments on the episodes, one for art related things, and one for posts like this, or something. I dunno. I know what you mean, I've been giving up on some threads entirely because they've either gone downhill or I'm more interested in other things. No, I know. Usually I will only respond if I have something to say... It actually kind of annoys me when people have like thousands of posts within the first two hours. I try to post intelligently and with a purpose, rather than letting my posts dissolve into 'Yes, I agree'.. Even when I post those, I try and at least give my reasons for doing so. If someone surpasses me... Sure, fine, probably even good because then people will stop asking if I'm a mod (why, why do they ask that?! You can check it REALLY easily- mods have 5 green stars, and will be listed under Member > View Staff Members). Plus, I don't -care-. I post so much because I'm so interested.

Really, that wasn't aimed at you at all. It was more a general statement. From what I've seen, your posts are very intelligent and interesting. Sorry if it souinded like I meant to aim it at you.....

I actually think it's easier to keep up with things when a forum is small...you make better friends with people. But I'm not discouraging anyone from posting! I haven't posted as much as I could, mainly because I don't get answered very often.

I haven't posted as much as I could, mainly because I don't get answered very often. It's really a bitch posting some really long an well thought-out theory and have it completely ignored. Keep in mind that no replies can just as well mean silent agreement, though. Unless it's a question, and then it's really okay to ask again.

If your theory is not commented on, it could be that you have alredy fully explained everything, and the only thing we (that is the rest of the posters) can do is agree with you, which we all seem agreed we should not do. Sort of a "catch 22"

Yup, got to agree with you there! (This should illustrate Rasta's point nicely...)
Actually La Poire, I wanted to say that I think you're one of the best long-format posters on the forums right now, and I love reading your stuff. It's just that I feel a long, well thought out post deserves a reply in kind, and I usually write half of those and go 'wait, what was I doing?!'

Yeah, I think some of mine are gone. I could have SWORN I'd posted in the Wild Speculations thread, but there's nothing by me there... And I was mostly getting my fristration with the people on my other forum out. I can't do it there, since they might see it...Sorry again, this isn't the right place either.

I don't think it's fair to the poster, who has no idea if his post was received well or panned as trash. And it's not fair to the lurkers who are considering posting either, because they can't tell the "atmosphere" in the forum very well. There's been a few times when people have posted some complimentary response to a long analysis, and I felt it strengthened the sense of community here. Why should people be opposed to that? I don't understand.
