The ship reports students and robots banding together ''after'' it. The robots may not be bright with regard to moral consequences &c., but one thing they are good at is science. We all agree that Kat is wicked smart but she couldn't figure out a way to make her robot flesh plan work; the robots did. Not really. They didn't find a way to make Kat's project work (reliably and predictably, thus repeatably), they found a shortcut that may allow to reach the same result, but not provide the means of doing it at will. Or, "a leap of faith through a wall of firework factory" does not equal "science" (even !!SCIENCE!! has somewhat higher standards). How does Jack know there are four siphons? Renard told him. I've always thought that Lindsey would be in the distortion with the ship and the students and everyone, as she has been swimming closely near them And the ship was sailing near Court. Once upon a time. Though if she was away, but noticed a swarm of speedboats buzzing by on intercept course, she could either follow to investigate, or pop up on surface and be contacted by some of the robots. Now, Lindsey is faster than she looks, but is she as fast as those boats? So yes, it's possible than Lindsey joined the mess just now.

Am I missing something here? Renard told him so. Jack is the one asking how many there were. Is this a joke flying over my head? On the subject of flying, I love how the bird things look like aeroplanes in the first panel. I have no idea why, but I just find that so satisfying. Doh! My only alibi is this lousy mobile interface I am stuck with while traveling. And the sort-of-joke is being suspicious of Jack and/or Jenny . Not really a joke, more like a yippy dog that won't stop barking.

Of course, Reynardine didn't claim to be telling how many of the siphons there are. Just how many he thinks there are.
He says four, indicating that he has good reason to think there are are at least four (e.g. seeing four, or seeing three at what appear to be corners of a rectangle, or seeing energy flows between siphons he can see and siphons he can't with said flows indicating the presence of at least four) and he saw no reason to think there are more. But there still could be more.

Look on the positive side, folks. While we still don't know exactly what will happen if all the siphons collapse, it appears that at least some the illusions will deteriorate, rather than manifest in reality.
We haven't seen any bits of ship appearing yet, though. Hopefully everyone's had swimming lessons!

They just said a couple of pages ago that they're not going to destroy the siphons right away. Is there some other party destroying them? Lindsey, perhaps? That would explain a lot. But then; why did she wait that long? Remember, given the whole "distortion" thing, it's possible that she didn't actually wait that long. That's a wonderful description of shippers/conspiracy jokes! Even if I am one of the ones on the bandwagon.

On the subject of flying, I love how the bird things look like aeroplanes in the first panel. I have no idea why, but I just find that so satisfying. The seraphs are really beautiful in all their creepiness. And it is interesting that Zimmy's power changed the little decorative wings in to something useful, on the other hand it's a bummer there 'off' buttons have disappeared. That would explain a lot. But then; why did she wait that long? I just had a thought. We can be sure as chaperone, Lindsey is aware of Zimmy's nature. Plus, being an etheric sea creature, she might be perfect to collect ether rich water, which Zimmy needs to cool down. That might explain her absence till now. She might break the siphons, causing Zimmy to reach a dangerous boiling pressure, and send a shower of ether rain down on everyone with a rainbow producing jump. Pretty wild spec; if you are right you will eat cookies for months I've always thought that Lindsey would be in the distortion with the ship and the students and everyone, as she has been swimming closely near them, So did I, but I guess it is possible she has been observing from a distance Is there a reason to think the gap would close?
