Dramacrats to battle stations! Teenage conflict sighted off the port bow! This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill!

that's a BULLCRAP rule, at that age it's practically the only time in your life your body is flexible enough to break dance. I hope there is a good reason they can't break dance and this isn't just a ploy to monopolize the robot

Is Matt the only other single member of the Queslett friends? Maybe he and Annie can make awkward small talk together.

Beat me to it. But it makes me wonder, if the sailor-bots are banning breakdancing, so they won't be upstaged, when they bust a move at the end of the dance. If the chapter is about social interaction, Annie will probably be doing the talking-to-a-potted-plant dance. I'm hoping the chapter's "Torn" part isn't about them "tearing up the rug", as it were.

No breakdance allowed but luckily there are still enough dance moves to choose from: And of course, classical charleston must be clean: Just look at their school uniform: gunnerkrigg.com/?p=905If the courst didn't want its girls to act like flappers, it shoudln't dress them as such. And this is still shaping the chapter up to be about Annie feeling alone, as everyone else pairs up to dance but her... Although I can't imagine Zimmy dancing, maybe she can go with Gamma? Tom is going for random cuteness points, maybe they could dance privately just outside the ballroom? Divination: Everyone is dancing and hiving good time, except Annie is feeling alone and irritated. She storms to the outer deck, where she meets Zimmy and Gamma being unusually intimate (PG13) together. She turns around and goes back inside. Two cookies, if we see a brown paper bag concealing a liquid container of reasonable doubt at some point. Three, if it is on Zimmy and Gamma.

Hmm, my sentance seems to have come out with the opposite meaning to what I meant. I thought that Zimmy would never want to dance, but Gamma would, therefore Gamma nd Annie would end up dancing together and becomming closer friends.

Gamma has to stay at Zimmy's immediate vicinity at all times, so it seems unlikely that she could leave her far enough to join the dance party. See in the last page how she can't even leave that broom closet, even though she'd clearly prefer to be on the deck.

That dance takes coordination!

Gamma left Zimmy during the events of Divine, so there seem to be some circumstances where she can wander off a bit. I think she is more staying in the broom closet out of loyalty and shyness rather than pure "need" to be there.

I think she is more staying in the broom closet out of loyalty and shyness rather than pure "need" to be there. Gamma left Zimmy specifically so that her powers could activate and she could enter Annie's dreams, which happens almost instantly after she leaves the room. I very much doubt that she'd be willing to go through all that when no-one's life is at stake. If that chapter is of any indication, things start to get freaky for Zimmy as soon as Gamma leaves her immediate line of sight.

The robots are performing their own ballet swankifying the ballroom with perfect coordination and grace, just like a few hours from now with a roomful of students they'll perform the same fluid moves, ripping off limbs and tearing out internal organs... errr, I mean, NO robot revolution allowed.

This reminds me of Back to the Future. The dancing bal where George kisses Lorraine for the first time IS an Ocean style dance, right ? *after a quick search* Yeah, Enchantment under the sea dance ! Ha! I came here hoping to make a Back to the Future reference. ...though clearly, this is Enchantment Over the Sea

How can you dance without music?!
When I saw that poster I was so excited that there would be breakdancing then I saw the red text. I still imagine that there will be some rule breakers. It seems like it will still be a semi-casual dance. I think with Annie it might be more of a problem of not knowing how to dance.

The dance will have music! that must mean it's really swanky. Now taking all bets! A live band or robot-musicians?

Generally speaking, a dance of this sort would begin with a brief lesson for those new to dancing, to ensure that everyone has at least some idea how to proceed.

Zimmy could stay sat at the table while Annie and Gamma were nearby That would be very interesting. Annie and Gamma dancing too close... Instant iceberg A revolution without breakdancing is a revolution not worth having. Another omission in wikipedia, not a word about breakdancing. Now taking all bets! A live band or robot-musicians? Robots; I don't think there is one adult on board.

Zimmy could stay sat at the table while Annie and Gamma were nearby That would still require Zimmy to come and sit in a crowd of people, and not mind that Gamma is paying more attention to someone else for several minutes...

None of the middle school or high school dances I ever attended included lessons in dancing.

I love both of them myself, though for completely different reasons since they're essentially completely different stories.

Am I the only one who thought that Zimmy would puke while they cut to those scenes? Kind of like in cartoons where they conveniently censor it.
They should dance to some jazz harpsichord love songs.

Robots; I don't think there is one adult on board. John Sullivan and Margo could be a two-person acoustic band. They'd call themselves "Tenacious G", and they would rock.
