Endless forum debates, but the kids are just trying to do things without really knowing how to go about it.

The kids and adults and teachers and ghosts and fair folk and gods and robots and possessed dolls and 18th-century people and flying octopi and dickcharneys and cosmic abominations.

A Jan and Cookie side story could be good, but I would prefer to see Zimmy and Gamma's side story first.

The retrospective for Chapter 36, Red Gets Name, is up! Seems that Bugsy's clothing glows because her ownership is a big deal for Bugsy. I thought she may have imbued them with some kind of etheric power, but that appears to be incorrect. Annie's clothing doesn't glow even though she owns them, so I guess Annie's ownership of her clothes isn't significant to Annie.

Annie doesn't "own" her clothes in the sense of earning them, as you do when you have a job. Her clothes are provided by the Court. Back in Chapter 27, when Jack told her the Court tracked the students through their food, Annie suggested that tracking through their clothes made more sense, since all their clothes were provided by the Court. I think this is why Annie's clothes appear gray in the ether; she hasn't earned them, so they are not "hers."

The uniform items may be provided, but Annie (and the other non-Foley students) have their personal clothes they wear when the uniform is not required. Annie even has clothing that she made while she was living in the Forest for a Summer. As Tom said, owning their cloths is significant to Bugsy and the Foley students in a way that it isn't to regular humans. The whole clothing thing seems kind of similar to what Renard once said about the mind is just a plaything of the body. A reversal of cause and effect for those with Forest heritage.

That might be a valid point regarding any clothes Annie made while in the forest, but not for her other clothes. All clothes, not just the uniforms, are provided by the Court. My apologies for commenting primarily because I'm a new member and wanted to see how Mort looks as my avatar (though most assuredly not unique). AND...I've never, ever found a comic that I enjoy more than this!

Interesting. I expect more exposition in the Chapter 38 retrospective, this one was rather quick. Then again, I watched the first 36 back-to-back after reading the first 59 chapters back-to-back, so I suppose any one chapter's video will feel quick for me if I only get one at a time.

There is only so much Tom can say in the retrospectives without letting spoilers out. I do wonder if he is intentionally waiting until after we learn more about the Mecha Angel before doing the retrospective for Divine. Tom mentioned exploring Donny and Anja more in the future. I assume he meant Chapter 52 and 53.

The one I'm really excited for is the Chapter 55 retrospective

I find it intriguing how Tom's retrospective videos of older chapters match recent events in the comics; or how the storyline itself has a lot of hidden foreshadowing which now makes sence in context. During last months we've seen chapter 35 with Robot fencing with Parley - we have him do it during Jehanne's resque; 36 briefly introduces Red's friend reality-shifting ability (back then it seemed a bit out of place for me) - she uses it in current chapter. Now the next one will be Divine, with first appearance of Kat's godlike form - maybe his comments will help readers to understand where the current storyline goes?

I don't see the colour overlay, what exactly am I supposed to be looking for?

I don't see the colour overlay, what exactly am I supposed to be looking for? I think the colors are a little bit... Blue-r On page 1209, there's a panel with Annie in it. Her hair, at the top, is more pink than red. The whole chapter is tinted blue, with Gamma's skin being a little washed out, and Kat's hairband being less baby pink.

I think you mean page 1029, but I agree that it is a blue gradient tint. If you look at the top of each panel and look down the edges of the panels, the blue tint fades out as it gets closer to the bottom. I also think the color pallet in the infirmary is slightly more gray until Kat wakes up on page 1051, but that might just be me. The whole room looks like the life has been sucked out of it.

This didn't exactly answer the question whether Zimmy always sees Kat funny and always has (which wouldn't seem to justify her attitude in her first appearance). On the one hand Tom confirms this chapter was almost all unreal, and it makes sense that Zimmy would be more likely to see Kat's special nature in special reality, but on the other hand he doesn't seem to put any stress on that aspect of it.

I think Tom is having to hold back to keep from spoiling parts of the Mecha Angel plot line that he hasn't revealed. He certainly had to hold off on this retrospective until after he revealed what had happened from Anthony perspective. Now that Annie has seen the Mecha Angel, maybe in the next chapter she will go see Zimmy to ask about how she sees Kat.

Things I didn't notice before: when Zimmy is revisiting Kat and Annie in the orchard, Annie's hair clip is clearly visible (she hadn't lost it at that point)

What is that "who knows" at the end supposed to mean? I always assumed the bonus page was just a gag. Is it still a gag or do I have to look our for heartrate monitors now? Or both? Aaaargh!

My personal guess, Tom thought the bonus page was hilarious back in the day but now he admits that it is silly at best.

I think that's the best outro for a video I have seen in years hahaha. Especially coming from someone who is normally pretty more reserved and nuanced than the average YouTuber while on the mic. Also, his trolling/humor continues to delight on a regular basis.
