Gunnerkrigg Port? Ah, yes, I'll take a snifter of that, thank you very much. Excellent vintage.

Since I have no idea what this chapter could be about, I decided to look up some anagrams of the chapter title. I found some good ones ranging from observations on the scenery of the page, to vaguely ominous/threatening, to mysterious, to hinting at downright bawdy. Bonus: a few anagrams of Tom's comment. The Torn Sea ------------ Another Set No Rest; Heat Earth Tones Tent Ashore No Theatres Nose Threat The Treason East Throne Heart's Note A Short Teen (who's this?) Hare Test On (a continuation of the last chapter, hehe) North Tease Taste Heron A New Chapter! -------------- Each Part New! New Hat Caper!

And, in my usual spirit of translating the new chapter titles...

Is there any confirmation of the time of year? It seems long enough since Fire Spike to have been a year in-comic, but we never saw any winter at all...on the other hand, we never have. In Catalyst the weather seems winter-ish. Winter was around the end of volume 4 and the beginning of volume 5. By now volume 5 contains about 200 pages if I'm not mistaken. Earlier volumes were at least 250 pages long. So this chapter will probably not be tha last in this volume... or it will be rather long... or the volume will be rather short... only time will tell, I guess.

Maybe the source of the Annan waters? Some other thoughts would be shattered paradise maybe. Or perhaps a shattered relationship between two friends, symbolized by a torn picture? Just throwing out ideas here...(please Tom no...) I doubt this. How many times has this type of indirect symbolism shown up in GKC? A three second think brings up nothing, I'll let you guys figure it out. Anyway, when I first saw this a rift between Annie and Kat was the first thing that occurred to me, and that Annie or Kat had physically torn the picture apart, and by the time I went to bed a couple of minutes later, I had decided that if you tear up a picture out of anger, you don't do it by halves. My long-range bet: Kat has a torn picture, goes to Smitty or someone else with... abilities for help, they fix it, and they spend the rest of the chapter ruminating over that. Also: Moses acting like Coyote: Edit: I vote chapters are referred to as 'hat capers' from now on. XD

You forgot some interesting ones from your list: Oh, Tea's Rent (...is this a message? should we donate more via Patreon?) Shatter Eon (Robo-Kat-Goddess will shatter this eon!) or Hatter's Eon (Mad Hatter? Is that you?) Short Eaten (...that sounds scary. Whos the shortest one? Are sharks included?) Sonar Teeth (...sharks with sonar teeth!?) Reheat Snot (...ewww) The Senator (...what) Torah Teens (...even more 'what') and Nearest Hot Earth Stone (...Jones? Vacation!? ...in a swimsuit possibly !?!?)

Shatter Eon (Robo-Kat-Goddess will shatter this eon!) Aww, people remember my theory! Warms the heart. In Catalyst the weather seems winter-ish. This volume has another 3 chapters to go by my estimate. No doubt Tom has his own. If this chapter is indeed about the next summer vacation, as often speculated, then one of the following is true: 1: this chapter is extra-long. 2: this chapter is followed by another happening during the break 3: this book is super short 4: Tom be trollin'

I doubt that; Tom specifically confirmed that the pictures in the library were not part of the storyline (or, more specifically, they were going to but were dropped on second thought). I don't think he'd reverse that.

I don't think he'd reverse that. Yes, but it is within the realm of possibility that he would come up with an another storyline / twist in a plot / something into which that particular unfired Chekhov's gun 'left hanging' could be incorporated. E. After all, whatever the original idea Tom had was, what there remains in the published comic is just a couple of photographs, featuring footprints in sand. I'm inclined to believe most of authors would feel the urge to gravitate towards the Law of Conservation of Detail (WARNING a TvTropes link), and re-use that element somehow(ANOTHER).

I am pretty excited by this chapter page. I have no idea what it means, but I smell changes coming.
So far we have seen the court, the forest, the court... There has been little to no view outside the bounds of these two places, other than glimpses into past events. Maybe our protagonists get a chance to see the outside world for a bit? That would be very interesting to have them in a different environment.
And remember, every anime ever made has to have a beach episode. *ducks for cover*

I understand it having a beach episode, but this comic seems neither western nor manga, and doesn't even seem like a combination. It's just its own style really. I think you can come out of cover now.

This time, with seagulls making a guest appearance?

GOSH GOLLY I JUST REALISED SOMETHING!! COYOTE MAY HAVE CUT THE SEA WHEN HE MADE THE ANNAN WATERS! THAT'S WHY IT'S (maybe) CALLED THE TORN SEA! I'm sorry that took me long to postulate.
