Yes. However, people have spent a lot of time fleshing out Gunnerphysics (god, that whole thing about how Jones works...) Psh. For all you know, people like Jones could exist. It's scary like that. Statistically unlikely in our universe. But who knows.

It's science fiction. Anything could happen ...actually, is it fantasy-science fiction? Yes. However, people have spent a lot of time fleshing out Gunnerphysics (god, that whole thing about how Jones works...) To Be Honest pretty much everything that has been said one way or another on this forum about Gunnerphysics has been adapted or paraphrased from other sources of physics or writing for F/SF and has yet to congeal. Since we can't put numbers into any of these theories we're just waiting for the books to advance and see if anything in the plot proves anything one way or another, probably in the form of a teeny detail the author included without thinking much about because in some way it just made sense.

At least we know Jones is not a robot. We can all agree on that, right?

At long last, yes. That one was almost as controversial as "did Reynardine intend to kill Annie?".

Psh. For all you know, people like Jones could exist. It's scary like that. Statistically unlikely in our universe. But who knows. Statistically unlikely in what way? Such a being's existence would not conflict with observed facts, which puts it on the same level as negative mass, monopope magnets, et cetera; and above faster-than-light travel.

I mean, for several of the known laws of physics to fail around her is not a 'likely' thing, despite that it would not properly be a probability. And, interestingly, depending how you define faster than light, a theoretical framework does exist (the Alcubierre drive, or an extension of quantum teleportation into the macroscopic realm) While we're talking of unlikely things, though, Smitty takes the prize

Being to do this every single time is nearly impossible.

Nearly impossible.
For a 52 card deck the probability of any one shuffle including in order is 8.06582E+67:1

Smitty's powers made it highly possible that Smitty would have his powers.

Nearly impossible. For a 52 card deck the probability of any one shuffle including in order is 8.06582E+67:1 ...Indeed. And 43252003274489856000 ways to arrange a standard 3x3 rubiks cube. And that's a rounded number, because I can't find where I kept the actual one.

Nearly impossible. For a 52 card deck the probability of any one shuffle including in order is 8.06582E+67:1 Not to mention that the wind and random movements of air molecules caused the cards to line up perfectly, which may be even less likely iself than just the ordering above

(Smitty sets the tray on the floor and dumps the bag out onto it. The first rows of letters spell out And you thought this would work Nice try bub But some things must remain a mystery )

That's just the odds for shuffling. The chance of a pack of cards landing in anything close to a neat pile, let alone face down or in a certain order is so remote it approaches infinity.

Are his powers limited to removing entropy, or can he manipulate it and add more? Could he influence the outcome to say what he wanted it to say? It is "subconscious" I guess, but he can still focus on certain things to make them more likely to happen. While we're at it could he stump a 20 Questions game?

That's a good question... he did manage to throw the blinkerstone where Annie and Kat wanted him to without him knowing exactly what he was doing...

So we know: Even if he doesn't know what he wants, he gets the result. Events conspire to make it so.

I mean, how many topics lately have been relevant to the title? There's the one talking about different-based DNA, forum avatars, something about Naruto, meta-discussion about bumping, [...] Though it is a little fun in its own way

Hi everyone, I love GC and I lurk here all the time, but I almost never post... Um... I'm shy but I thought you might want to see my recent cosplay of Antimony.. I made her coat/dress thing. I'm sorry the picture is lousy, I'll take some better ones later... and excuse the glasses. ^_^;

Nice to see the fanstuff branching out again. I don't think I've seen anything other than literal art since somebody did the plastic (I think?) boxbot. And that was just..let's not go there.

How many did it take you to make that?! How many stems? I don't actually know, I haven't totalled up the tally marks yet. But I'm guessing somewhere upwards of 200 or so. And about ten hours' worth of time so far. Here's a random dude for size reference.
