So, to Kat, the RoTD looks like cheap halloween decorations. To Annie, it looks dramatic and imposing. To Mort, it looks like understated but believable ghost cartoons. I am confuse because last chapter I assumed Mort and Annie were seeing the same thing because they were reacting to everything in the same way. I guess their experiences were just really similar, even though their experience of Dracferatu is really different? Or maybe Mort's experience has changes over time, despite not growing up. Hey, how come the ROTD is so subjective, but the guides, coyote, and other ethereal entities look the same to everyone (as far as we know)?

Mort is probably just as impressed by the understated genuine house of horrors he sees as Annie is about the full-on nightmare mode she does. Remember, Annie has seen a lot of this supernatural stuff already. She's not one to be easily overawed.

Maybe because the guides "impose" their appearance to the viewer, while the ROTD is some kind of quantum dimension ?...

I kind of wish my boss looked like that. Any time I had trouble with a customer I'd just say "Let me go get my boss" and this guy would stagger out and I would never have a problem with that customer again. Would the customer mysteriously disappear later on that night, or would your boss just get to chowing down right then and there?

I guess the only person who could see the ROTD as it really is would be Jones. And good luck getting inside that head.

No matter where you work, there's always that one guy walking around with a little something on his face. Drives you crazy all day. All you can do is obviously and repeatedly wipe your face. Plus, the smell of rotting flesh. Mondays, am I right?

Probably some horrifying amalgamation of everything the etheric beings have been over time. Or maybe the thing that caused humans to come up with them? Both at the same time?
