Two countries seperated by a common language and all that. Centre is balderdash in comparison with center, but grey... grey will always be superior to gray. For some reason I always write "offense" when talking about emotion but "offence" when talking about action. It doesn't help that spell-check will often accept either version as correct. I think you'll find 'offense' is the verb while 'offence' is the noun. Rather like 'practise' vs 'practice'. Then again, I don't usually go around offensing people (not consciously, anyway)

Two countries seperated by a common language and all that. I remember being confused by the line "Give it me!" in a Diana Wynne Jones book. I understood the meaning just fine, but hadn't ever run across that construction before. English is such a wacky language.

Random question: Early on, did Kat ever try and rectify the existence of ghosts (Mort/Jeanne) with science, like she did with the blinker stone? She thought Mort sneaking up on her was funny. She never showed disbelief about Jeanne. Anyway, she met Basil at the beginning, she is accustomed to weirdness. The blinkerstone made her curious, she thought Rey's explanation was nonsense and that made her even more interested. When later told about the courts dismissal of Anja's computer she almost repeats Rey's words.

Yeah, but Basil's a bit different. He may be a mythical creature, but he isn't really purely explained by "it's magic!" Two things somewhere, sometime, boned, and he came to be (not unlike Annie's ancestors). You actually pulled from the same chapter I was referring to: And here (same conversation as the one you posted): www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=515Interesting connection you made there between Rey and Kat repeating him. I just wonder why she readily accepts the existence of ghosts early on without question or trying to explain them away, but has a harder time with magics (until explained to her). Maybe there's some underlying reason for that. I wonder if Word of Tom has anything on it.

I wonder which version of the ROTD we'll see this time. I am answering myself; looks like they are already in the ROTD. The large room they are in resembles the room from the bonus page of the last chapter: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1321I though they were in the court library for some reason.
