Thank you all very much for your congrats, I'm happy ! xD I'm pregnant for six months now, only three left and I am scared... The name is already chosen, but I won't tell neither the name nor the gender, until the delivery. Antimony would be awsome, Jeanne is a little too "old" in France (but it's too bad, because I like this name ! ). All I can say is, if it's a male, he will have the same name than one of the GKC's character, but if it's a female, she won't have an avatar in this wonderful universe (so far). Try to get Tom to name a character after him/her

Killing something (even by acts of godly power) and bringing it properly to the ether are totally not the same thing. Except robots don't naturally enter the ether, but this is an assumption. It could be that the greater forces behind the scenes have designated her as a guide because it's her fault they now start to have etheric properties. I think the old robots already *had* etheric properties; the ones Diego created weren't run by anything Kat could explain through pure physics and mechanical engineering. I want to agree that deactivating a robot is not at all the same thing as bringing a soul to the ether. It could be that this was the case with Diego's robots, since there was bit of exposition on how robots never sleep, and just being 100% deactivated was preferable to the never-ending wait to move again that is "sleep". It is, however, possible that the robots are developing their version of souls, as they've come to regard Kat somewhat religiously. Souls are brought into question when religion becomes the topic, yes? Also: Called it. Same RobesGuy. I wonder what that pretty book says~

I don't think that Kat is actually being looked at as an afterlife guide. When the library dude was talking about guides he was looking at Annie, and when Secretary Bones (does he have a name) was verifying Annie and Kat, he said that Annie was the afterlife guide. I don't see how everyone else would think that Kat is a guide when he didn't. Or maybe he did and just didn't say anything? I personally think she just ran ahead and opened a door that they as a group had access too. I also think it is interesting how Annie hasn't been refuting the Afterlife Guide title.

She did guide two people that we know of into the afterlife (well, at least her mother; the burnt boy is debatable, since she brought him to the other afterlife guides).

Kat: Dude, what the hell?
That Guy: You want this, don't you? The hate is swelling in you now. Take your Robot weapon. Use it. I am unarmed. Strike me down with it. Give in to your anger.

Kat's getting reeeeeal tired of your stuff, Robesguy.
I wouldn't take this as Kat being considered a psychopomp though. The robots clearly view her as a Creator, an arbiter of life and death, not a guide. Guiding something into the afterlife requires a bit more than just killing it. Namely, something etheric, and nothing we've seen Kat do approaches that (I'm taking the ROTD guys acknowledging her symbol as the first sign she's developing a major presence in the ether. Perhaps after this whole adventure Annie will be able see something on her besides gray? Probably nothing approaching what Zimmy saw, but I predict a change).
She very well might become an angel of death for appliances, but she ain't one yet.

It's perfect. I don't get why everyone is assuming Kat is an afterlife guide? She is being made into an angel/god by the robots, but that's no the same thing at all. Just because kat is becoming a weird machine god doesn't mean she suddenly gains all characteristics f all other supernatural things. Why do you think? Conclusion-jumping on the bandwagon. See it rolling? Bristles with l... uh, bonelasers, Jonesbot at the steering wheel...

Kat's not a psychopomp, she just went into the wrong room. See, the door in panel 4 here is a lot like this door here -- some of the letters have simply worn away, and Kat is actually in FINAL S RECORDS. So when she opens that book, all she'll find out about Jeanne is that she aced French and AP Fencing, but had to retake Home Economics. The real drama will come when she discovers that Annie's grades look suspiciously familiar...

Why is nobody considering the possibility that there's no "magic ward" on Final Records that prevents restricted access? This. Pretty sure Kat's not an afterlife guide, but rather is just able to bypass the false security since she can see things as they actually are. Alternatively, they just meant 'restricted' as in non-guides aren't allowed to go in, but there's nothing physically stopping them from doing so. When they first entered the ROtD and Mr. 2D Skeleton checked their credentials, it was pretty clear that Kat was not an afterlife guide-- at least not one they would recognize anyways.

Why is nobody considering the possibility that there's no "magic ward" on Final Records that prevents restricted access? That would be trolling, and Tom would never do that would he. ...Of course, I'm also waiting for guy to say, "To see this book you'll need Permit A38. You can get that at the front desk." I don't think he would dare.

I think final records are just restricted access, meaning that lowly ghosts like Mort aren't authorized to arbitrarily browse. Annie has the authority to, however, and Kat and Mort are with her. It's interesting the Annie outranks Mort in this. Guide one soul and you get unlimited access to ROTD records.
Of course ROTD seems to be a very small beurocratic office, with only three staff that we've seen, two of whom are wall hangings. It's a big facade, but not much building.

I am really liking this arc. I think there is a lot between the lines here what with how quickly Kat's patience with this whole business is wearing thin and the way she sees the ROTD vs what we can deduce from Mort and Annie's reactions to things.

I wonder if the hooded guy is making the group run around so much to give him time to find the records or because he doesn't like Guides.

Also, wait and see if Mort can enter the room. We know he isn't an Afterlife Guide. So it is group access if he can cross the threshold of the doorway. Still, however we interpret this scene, I am loving Kat's reactions to the Realm of the Dead. And I am real curious to see what is in the book!

I was hoping the robed guy would have some more lines. For me he sounds like Farengar Secret-fire from Skyrim.

Why is nobody considering the possibility that there's no "magic ward" on Final Records that prevents restricted access? Next page shows Annie and Mort arriving to find Darth Liberus holding the book out of reach and fending Kat off with green mitt while intoning: "No can see, non-spirit cyber guide."

Maybe the doors wouldn't be visible if they didn't have Annie with them. I don't think Kat is an afterlife guide, at least not yet and she seems to be more of a deity.

Remember how serious last chapter was? Well this chapter is all funnies all the time! Well, except for what's going to be one of the biggest reveals in the story so far. Well, we already know RotD doesn't know ANYTHING about Jeanne maybe something has changed Since Muut last looked but still, I doubt the big reveal will come from special cases.
