Probably a loooooooooooooooooooong time now. They said Jeanne's features have faded, and I'm guessing it fades over time, compare Jeanne and Mort and you'll see that he must've been around for a loooooooooooooooooooong time. No, I'm sure Mott's not older than Jeanne. Although it's anyone's guess as to what "young" means in regards to ghosts, he can't be more than a century or so old. More likely, his lack of features is just part of his general ghostiness. I think it's more a factor of people forgetting who they are than a direct time=fading correlation; Jean is (I think it was established by Tom) older than Mort, but because of her intense emotional attachment to the memory of her lover's death, she still has shape and a form still somewhat resembling her original body. Mort, by contrast, does not remember who he was; thus, he's faded to a caricature of the idea of ghost. Going off of this, I kind of wonder if the skull-guy has also forgotten who he was, but came from a more Hispanic/Latin-American culture; that skull-sticker looks an awful lot like something from a Dia de los Muertos decoration... Ooh, random thought; what if the RotD staff are all the ghosts that have forgotten who they were?

Also why didn't Parley and Smitty come with Annie and KAt? I bet they're afraid of bats. For some reason, I like to think that Mr. Credentials is playing a piano in his little flat tollbooth. It's probably his pose.

Also why didn't Parley and Smitty come with Annie and KAt? They're too busy smooching. We can't have scary ghost adventures while their lovey dove-y business gets in the way! I mean, sure, horror films generally have that couple who gets off'd first. BUT Parley can just teleport them out of there, and that's no fun.

Wow, so my office isn't the only place that uses Verification Bats to check the credentials of visitors.
(We run a pretty tight ship, you know).

"Touch your tongue to mine."
"What?"
"Your tongue, touch it to mine."
"Why?"
"To make it official."
"T-to make what official?"
"You know, all of it!"

It's probably his pose. Also, he has a piece of paper in front of him standing vertically on a wooden structure that looks somewhat like a piano...dashboard? frontispiece? That part of the piano where you put the music. You know what I'm trying to say. Anyway, I agree. Would he be playing the tarantella?

This place is pretty cardboard already, so... it's scary to think what his presence could do with it.

You know what I'm trying to say. Anyway, I agree. Would he be playing the tarantella? I picture him as more of a fan of the classics. But Italian might just be the language of his heart. I would have linked a genuinely Neapolitan song if I knew any beyond »Comme facette mammeta« and »Funiculì, Funiculà«.

A slightly late observation, but did anyone else note that Tom's comment echoes the opening scene from the (original) Golden Compass movie?
This had a cat passing through a window from our world to Lyra's Oxford. It's about to pounce on a mouse, but it (Pan) turns into a bigger cat. As cat flees yowling, Pan remarks:
"That's odd. Anyone would think that cat hadn't seen a person's daemon before."
