Way to go, Kat! How cute is the blue girl? Hee. Interesting to see they're not the only ones, though they did mention the rest of their year, way back when. Also, Tom, the main site isn't working for me, Internal Server Error 500: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@gunnerkrigg.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Though that page has only come up once; now Firefox is saying the connection timed out.

Aw, poor thing. I'm guessing her blue-haired friend didn't mind the changes as much, and their difference in reaction to the changes split them apart as friends. If this were true, it'd only make her resent the changes even more and fall into a deep pit of self-loathing.
Pretty harsh. :/

do fairies usually only hang out with one another?

No one likes to be seen with someone embarrassing or whiny.

Indeed..... I think we know who is the one that has been on a diet since arriving in the Court.
Truthfully, I think Red just got the short end of the stick in terms of body transformations.

Fairies hang out with fairies that look good, I guess. (I only just noticed that at least one of the girls the blue one is with is/was also a fairy)

And thus the chapter is about reuniting the two friends. At least, I hope it is. Red all angry about her situation and not adapting well and feeling alone when Blue has friends, is thinner, and has adapted well (apparently).
There'd better be a awwww-inducing hug scene between the two former fairies at the end somewheres. They were so cute in their former bodies. It just wouldn't be fair for them to not end up being friends again.

And the other one has green hair (*very* anime).
At least Red's fussing about other things than just the weight gain. That makes it less likely that this is going to be a "Very Special Chapter".
Does Kat know about the Gillitie Wood fairies' goal of getting into the school?
(And I still wonder why the Year Sevens are wearing uniforms but the Year Eights aren't. Parley and Smith were wearing uniforms in Chapter Fourteen, so it can't be a case of "only the new kids have to wear them". I hope this gets cleared up soon.)

Red needs some serious therapy.
Kat could be her therapist!

Perhaps the year sevens we've seen were all faries, and don't have any other clothes to wear, while the other kids can wear whatever they want the first day. Sorry for doubleposting, I just started my reply before todd posted (yes I used over five minutes on two short sentences).

It looks like there's not much chance of mistaking normal students for former fairies. (And I still wonder why the Year Sevens are wearing uniforms but the Year Eights aren't. Parley and Smith were wearing uniforms in Chapter Fourteen, so it can't be a case of "only the new kids have to wear them". I hope this gets cleared up soon.) The fairies probably don't have any other clothes yet, and I don't think we've seen any human students wearing the uniform.

Fairies hang out with fairies that look good, I guess. (I only just noticed that at least one of the girls the blue one is with is/was also a fairy) She looks perfectly pretty, I think. Her biggest issue (so far) seems to be her attitude. As I said, she obviously hates the changes they've gone through, which may be an opinion not shared by some of her friends, which could have ended up in a seperation. This is more than likely a case of them just growing apart, though the friendship could still be salvageable if red is able to come to terms with her situation. Something that will no doubt involve the intervention of Kat and Annie. And it's very obvious that Kat has no idea what Red is talking about, judging from her reaction. I mean, what else would a normal person (Who isn't familiar with the fairies) think of someone who came up to you and blurted out that sort of thing?

My reaction was, "Which one is supposed to be the blue one?" As far as I can tell, 'Red' could be pointing at any one of those three girls, none of whom look particularly fairy-like to me.

Speculation (but not quite _wild_ speculation): Red has trouble adapting to her new body because she cheated. The others were all killed by other things or people, so were rewarded with greater acceptance of their new bodies.
Hmm, I wonder if general recklessness counts as cheating for suicide fairies.

Okay, so the fairy applied makeup to imitate how she used to look. It's not likely that Red would be pointing at a group of girls, but NOT be pointing at a girl that looks nothing at all like the fairy-version, and NOT at the girl who just so happens to have the exact same facial markings?

Really you guys, I don't understand how there can possibly be any confusion about this. She has the same markings as the blue-haired fairy and is dead center in the panel. Even if we disregard the markings, why would Tom put the fairy in question in the center of the panel unless he wanted to imply that she was, indeed, the fairy being pointed out?
EDIT: Thats a bit harsher then I intended. I blame lack of sleep.

I agree Riess, it's my favorite quote, too.
I don't really feel bad for Red, but I think I probably should have a little bit of pity. It kinda seems like she's just...whiny. And loud. And completely off her rocker. Still, if her friend had stuck with her, maybe she would be adjusting a bit better. I'm sure Annie and Kat will (try to) help her.

I kinda assumed the other two girls on that page are some of the fairies from this page: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=150They look a lot like them. Could just be wild speculation, though. And I also assumed the fairy in the middle is the blue fairy. I mean, they didn't change in appearance that much. The Red fairy is still recognizably herself, and the middle girl looks a heck of a lot like the blue fairy, just humanized. Also, why were we debating what to call the suicide fairies earlier? They are the only fairies we've seen! Couldn't we just call them fairies?

It'd feel like cheating. Anyways, this turn of events (Red being slightly insane, not coming to the Court, obviously) seems a bit surprising as Red really seemed like both the smarter one and the stronger personality way back when – she was the one who first yelled at Annie and then asked her for help; Blue – or whatever her name is – seemed a lot more dependent on Red than the other way around. Also, I've always imagined Red's voice as loud and squeaky, and Blue's as kinda damsel-in-distressy ifyouknowwhatimean.

Hey, I just realised. When they met Annie, they said they were the last of their class to complete the test, right? So it could be that they didn't actually use to be friends, but banded together because it was easier to finish the test that way. After the test the blue fairy probably just went back to her old friends.

Good point for consideration there, Yin...
Also, many of my thoughts have been listed already by other people, so I shall skip straight to how I'm wondering about that pair of scissors. And Red's fuss over her hair. Though that could just be a crapshoot on my part.

The two seemed pretty close and not just stuck together because they were the only ones left.

I JUST realized that the maroon-haired one didn't have freakishly low glowing pink eyes.
I hope they become friends again!
Edit: I wonder why Blue's hair color changed?
And I'm sad about all of the newly gray eyes.
