Jeanee slicing everything that falls down there alittle weird. That's a pretty damn hard secret to keep. And who would tell about it? it begs questions like, Why didn't Jeanee chop up Kat when she flew down there, or Ysgrin, ore even Ann 'Grin didn't go beyond the shore, nor did "suicide fairies". Kat probably flew too high. With Annie, Jeanne couldn't make up her mind whether to slice her or not - "she didn't quite fell into my haunt, but it feels like cheating" or something. Or maybe she avoids TicTocs for some reason.

Kat clearly states the camera never touches thew water either I think it's safe to say Jeanne's behavior has changed slightly since we last saw her

But what if they send TWO CAMERAS AT ONCE? If money/production is not an issue (see Kat's workshop!), they could send in a bunch, to find Jeannies range, speed, reaction time, etc. Also her ability at detection, e.g. size, material etc. Maybe find the cheapest decoy she reacts to... Lure her to one end of her area, then send in drones at the other end. Maybe build "beholders", that stay just out of range, and dip fiberglass-optics down, and quickly retract them. A bunch of those stationed around her area could test her endurance... Poor Jeannie, there is a lot of fun to be had with cameras/drones Also, where is the source/end of that river ? Maybe send in a mini-submarine ?

I remember somewhere that Coyote commented Jeanne is a powerful being, so his sword may not have much destructive property against Jeanne's. And I still think the most likely purpose of the blade is aimed at Jones. Ooh, interesting theory! Don't know how plausible, but definitely interesting. Did you discuss this anywhere else? Don't know if it's been discussed elsewhere, but...I would rank it as Plausible. Coyote has to know that Jones refers to herself as a rock, and when Coyote hands over the knife, he says "It could cut the very earth!"

Joking aside, we do know that Jeanne 1.) has no care for mechanical devices, and 2.) hates the Court. So maybe she's going all sentry-mode on these on reflex. With Annie, who she probably recognized as both human and fire elemental (guessing at her present state's heightened ability to detect etheric properties), she took a moment to inspect the intruder, and then decided to let her off with a warning.

where is the source/end of that river ? Good question! We don't know of the original river's origin. Seed Bismuth or natural. Maybe, the water itself isn't water, but rather something etheric. If it is just water, what would happen if they dammed the source? As for her quick camera slicing, the answer is easy: She thinks they're filled with caramel and nougat. You guard a river for centuries and you'll be desperate for snack, too. She's down there think, "Why do they keep mocking my hunger? GODIVA!"

My theory grows stronger. She can only go to where something court-related is down there. This is why Muut thought she couldn't cross the water, from since the last time he was there a Tic-Toc has been placed on the ground. She hates the court and goes after technology.

Coyote made the Annan Waters to divide the court and the forest and end the conflict between the humans and the creatures of the forest. The court later thought up the "Jeanne Defense Network (TM)" to make the waters impassable. Even further down the road they built the bridge so they could access the forest again under their terms. During his conversation with Annie Coyote seems to either not know, or not want to disclose that he knows, the reason the Annan Waters are impassable.

"But sir, this is a thumbnail, we'd need thousands of pixels of extra resolution to make that as sharp as you-" WHAT PART OF ENHANCE DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND MOTHERFUCKERI wonder if they will actually have to kill Jeanne. She complimented Parley on a fine strike, so perhaps she's not all withered ghost rage. What if she's the one that schools them on what the aforementioned "world of the dead" is?

Gonna be hard for those kids to deal with emotionally.
I wonder where Shadow is or if he doesn't feel too comfortable near swords anymore.

Annie already has experience taking her mother in the afterlife, so she can do the psychopomping bit..

I had brought this up in WildSpec a while ago. And Sierra. It might be a red herring though, Jones seems not impressed with Coyotes power. Toms comment on that page is also interesting

www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=763 shows that she allowed objects to hit the water before. While it's possible that she is enraged by the encounter in Chap.30, I do think kalechibki's explanation is more likely - she just hates robots. Don't be robophobic, Jeanne.

Looks like they've got a wooden mockup of Coyote's sword for her to practice with. The question is, how helpful is that going to be? If it can cut through anything (even a soul, perhaps?) I would imagine that Jeanne's blade would be pretty flimsy as a defense. Of course, that would make for a pretty boring story; maybe it cuts through any physical object, but is also able to actually duel with etheric weapons, instead of being instantly defeated. Edit: ninja'ed by one comment! Jeanne can move fast enough that they require a video going frame-by-frame to see her, and has a razor-sharp ghost-sword. Parley can teleport and is using a weapon forged from a god. This seems like it will be the ultimate game of rocket-tag.

This brings up another question I had about this particular page: Is Annie unaware of the cut on her cheek? Also, if the camera never hits the water they won't have to worry about it short circuiting.

Actually, the Tooth's record for cutting etheric stuff is 0-1, as it failed to bisect Shadow2. I suspect that it'll in fact be worthless against anything etheric, (including Jeanne) being entirely focused on physical objects. I don't know. It cut Shadow2 loose from the ground, how is this possible physically? He wasn't even a threedimensional object before. And maybe Coyote still has some measure of control over the blade. I could imagine it having a soul for itself, acting in Coyote's best interests. One of those self-aware magical weapons. Maybe Coyote did that on purpose, making Shadow2 more than the others of his kind, improving his original creation. What if what Coyote really wants to cut with it are the binds that hold Jeanne at the Annan waters? Create open road to the court again for the forest. I think I'll put my money on that bet.

Though in Blade Runner at least, the crazy enhancing could be justified if you assumed the photos where very high definition, holographically stored 3D images.

What is Parley using to practice? A bokken. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BokkenI have one similar, they're mostly used as solo practice weapons as they can break bones. Specifically, she's using a Coyote Tooth-shaped Bokken
