Oh, not Jedi training, then. I see someone thought of the same thing I did. I bet it was a deliberate reference on Toms part. Anyways, I think we are going to be seeing Jeannes ghost again.

But why use a expensive camera?? What is expensive in the Gunnerkrigg Court, because I'm fairly certain there has been no single reference of money being used there. I'm not saing they would not have a currency, after all the USSR had. Also remember, with aid of Smith & Parley they can just "bip" it back. Maybe it is a part of some common consumer item, even a toy available in the court (like a beefed up baby cry alarm (also handy for spying your loved ones)) or even a robot spare part, which one probably would acquire just by asking nicely enough. Ultimately it is unlikely plot relevant and therefore just left for our imagination. In the next page we probably see Kat and Annie be like "shit, that's the second one already." Someone with formspring should ask Tom if Annie can see ether through camera. That is, do they all just see void, or does Annies see Jeanne and the blade?

Getting on the "It's the kids dropping a camera down to see Jeanne and she's none too happy about it" bandwagon. That white slice line looks like the trail we've seen left by her ghostly white blade before. Also, looks like we get at lest one robot, albeit briefly, in this chapter for those of you who wanted robots.

Uh, as far as we know, Parley can only *bip* herself, whatever is touching her (ie. clothes!), whoever is touching her, and everything that the others are wearing as well. She can't remotely teleport objects as far as we know. While Annie can *blink* her blinkerstone back to her, remember what happened last time?

We know it can cut things in the etherium.

We know it can cut things in the etherium. I imagine for her to be an effective guard of the Annan Waters... which she appears to be... she has to be able to interact with physical objects as well as etherial beings. Several times it's been stated that the bridge is the only safe way across the otherwise impassable Annan Waters and we are led to believe that the reason they are otherwise impassable is Jeanne.

What is the image being reflected in the lens? It's a stylized skull with a big eye and three teeth!

Whoops, I'm back. I hope everyone had fun over the holidays. Getting on the "It's the kids dropping a camera down to see Jeanne and she's none too happy about it" bandwagon. That white slice line looks like the trail we've seen left by her ghostly white blade before. Sounds reasonable. Also the reflection in the first depiction of the little eyecam thing looks a bit like a white face with an upraised arm to me. Someone with formspring should ask Tom if Annie can see ether through camera. That is, do they all just see void, or does Annies see Jeanne and the blade? You don't need a formspring account to ask a question but sadly he has stopped answering there since shortly before formspring changed over. There's probably a thousand questions backed up there now.

First thing I thought about was the sensors the court uses to track people. It would be hard to cut something that small in half so cleanly, howeverrrr

looks like a simple webcam, which makes me believe the "It's the kids dropping a camera down to see Jeanne and she's none too happy about it"-theory is a plausible one.
To be honest, I completely forgot about that, or coyote's tooth, all I could think was "SPAAAAAACE" :s

I think that's one of the new dorm-pods. I knew it. The dorms were getting smaller and smaller each year until at last they have them sleeping in Pokeballs.

I was in a hurry this morning and thought it was a desk chair wheel, and wondered what that was supposed to mean. But for the moment I agree with "the dropping a camera". If they use the same method as before, I pity the birds.

I woke up in the middle of the night and was going to go back to sleep but decided to check the comic first.
I could not comprehend this page whatsoever in my half asleep state, on the tiny screen of the phone. It... it was really upsetting, actually.

Well that's simple, it's dropping into the gorge, and Jeanne is the one doing the slicing. I say it's simple, but actually I only thought of that after reading your post. But why use a expensive camera?? if it cane move on it on maybe for practice put it don't looks like it. No i think it was dropt to see something down where is was dropping to and to send the images via the antenna to who it drop it Yeah, they're dropping it into the river to get a good look. I think you guys are in agreement but don't know about it yet.

Considering that a white slice is usually the stylistic depiction of ANY sword slicing through the air fast, I'm reserving that it's Parley practicing. Maybe not with Coyote's Tooth, but Parley nonetheless. Liriel's gaze fell upon a shallow, much-dented bronze bowl embossed with finely wrought designs and lined with ivory. It seemed strangely out of place among the grisly remains and the practical tools scattered around her feet, and the curious drow crouched to examine it. As she picked it up, the "lining" fell out-it was not ivory but bone, and too thick to be anything but the skull of a dwarf. The drow settled back on her heels to examine this discovery. Something had sliced neatly through the dwarf's head, cutting through helm and bone so cleanly that the edges of both were as smooth as if they'd been ground and polished by a master gem-cutter. This told her much about the dwarf's death. Liriel kicked through the scattered debris until she found a heavy thigh bone that had once belonged to a goodsized ogre. As she expected, the bone was severed near the upper joint, at just about the spot where a dwarf's head would reach if the two treasure-hunting fools had stood side by side. - Tangled Webs Khazid'hea! Makes me wonder if it played any inspiration for Coyote's Tooth.

I think Jeanne is a good call. From the style of the panel, I couldn't reconcile it being Parley practicing, but I couldn't come up with anything else. Dropping/throwing/flying a camera into the gorge to get the exact location of the arrow makes sense to me.

Furthermore, could this be the 'test' Ket referenced last chapter?

It's possible, but unlikely. Last chapter Kat and Paz were in uniform, whereas the costume preview showed Kat and Annie in regular clothing, indicating that it's a weekend (or holiday) meaning the two couldn't have been taking place concurrently.

My first thought was "Microsat 5!!" but my second thought was "Wait, that's stupid." I did too. And my stupid lasted until I went back to the title page of Chapter 37. That's Wheatley in space! ... This is how we know that Mr. Carver is both diabolical and desperate: He used Microsat 5 to try and bring back an inept and incompetent bot that (unsuccessfully) tried to get you

I would hazard a guess that the instrument doing the slicing is not Giggleblade because, well, it isn't giggling. True. But this may be because these cameras don't have a microphone. Khazid'hea! Makes me wonder if it played any inspiration for Coyote's Tooth. I have asked opinion of a lonely 603 MowDown model about this, and the droid gave me following message for you: "SNICKER-SNACK". Furthermore, could this be the 'test' Ket referenced last chapter? Ket? Shipping got really scary these days.
