Also I had been wondering what her conversations are like with the lab animals. That could really get awkward. "You'll die horribly in the name of science." "Uh, I'd rather be chased by the cat, thank you."

I wonder which method of euthanization / prekill Paz prefers to use on her mice.
to me she looks like a neck breaker.

Funny, but what about Renard's comment?

Oh, and I've been meaning to ask: What does "ninja'd" mean?

That's when you write a post and hit the button just to discover someone was posting exactly what you wrote while you were writing it. Edit: And I wasn't ninja'd with this? I'm disappointed in you lot/y'all.

The mouse joins Coyote and Tea on the List of Characters with the Ability to Address the Fourth Wall.

I like the movement lines in panels 3 and 4. Tom's really good at body language.

In the next episode of City Face...
Anyways, is it only me or does it seem like Paz is insane in this comic, she looks so out of it, talking to a mouse.

I'm reminded of the conversational skills of the seagulls in Finding Nemo. Just because you can speak, it doesn't mean you can do it well.

method of euthanization / prekill I clearly need to use this turn of phrase more often in my daily life.

In the next episode of City Face... Anyways, is it only me or does it seem like Paz is insane in this comic, she looks so out of it, talking to a mouse. It was previously established that someone in Kat's/Annie's class can talk to animals, and strongly hinted that Paz is the one. Edit: I think there is also Word of Tom that she's the one, and it's actually a sort-of-telepathic link that allows the animals to borrow a bit of her brain to get their thoughts into words.

I agree that the mouse can see the reader. I just imagine a small female squeaky voice. Nice to see that Paz is all excited about her time with Kat.

I'm only seeing the comic, the new one and the archives, in a very small size when I use Firefox. Everything is normal when I use Safari. Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem?

I'm fine. I'm using Chrome, though. Also, this page clears up a thought that has been bothering me for a while since we learned Paz can talk to animals (originated from HPMOR): "Wait, mice are sentient? Why has this not changed the philosophy of the Gunnerverse towards animal testing?"
The answer, apparently, is that they are barely sentient, and perhaps only temporarily gain this sentience in Paz's presence. Though, of course, the idea of a mouse saying "I am a mouse" is adorable.

These shocking swerves in the mood are really killing my neck, here. Also, based on the background it really looks like Paz suddenly turns into a giant mouse; that's not really happening, is it? I'm only seeing the comic, the new one and the archives, in a very small size when I use Firefox. Everything is normal when I use Safari. Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem? Everything works fine on my Firefox. Have you accidentally turned on some compability view app, or something? You may want to turn off your apps in general and if that doesn't work, empty your cache, too.

Zoom reset did the trick, though I don't know how the screen got zoomed out in the first place.

I am reminded of the D&D 3.5 spell Speak With Animals that essentially says 'yes, you can talk to animals and ask them questions, but they still have an intelligence of 1 or 2'

Like in The Knife of Never Letting Go/Chaos Walking series with the birds calling, "Where's my safety?".

Zoom reset did the trick, though I don't know how the screen got zoomed out in the first place. Just touching the Ctrl button when moving the mouse wheel can alter your zoom.

Or is it a give-and-take system?

We don't know details. But Paz' IQ seems stable and isn't all 'borrowed' away by mice and birds.

That makes sense, and now that we've seen Paz talking to animals (in a word bubble at least), it seems to confirm that the animals can understand Spanish, at least a little bit, through the telepathic link.

Mice speaking are a bit like that sinister line certain 'modified' humans utter in Dr. Who:
"I am a dalek."
(a dalek little mouse, perchance?)

Ha*! I just realised, looking at the placement of the wall pattern in the last two panels, that Paz might have inadvertently shapeshifted. The final comment makes a lot more sense that way**! *Well I'm amused by this, at least. **Not that bonus pages are required to make sense. It seriously does look like that's what happened. I just realized that this is relevant.
