Actually, with this recent page, there is still hope. Not trying to let you down hard, but there's a high probability that next weeks updates will reveal that Antimony is only worried about the loss of her deep platonic relationship with Kat (aka "Main Babe Status"). If Annie actually does profess romantic interest for Kat, I will be very surprised. Let's put it this way- there is hope, but the Wermacht said there was still hope in April 1945 too.

I'll be disappointed, actually. I'm expecting something a lot deeper.

Every time i have a chance, the world need more owls! "World" = "Dr. Owl" But I agree, at the end of the show it will be Jack. Only if she can drag him away from the Gamma/Zimmy/Jack OT3.

Anyone want to prove me wrong on this? The tree room is a sealed habitat, and cannot be opened from the inside. It's locked from the outside. Annie's etherical presence or ghost is only able to fit where Annie herself can fit (I.E. no actually reaching through walls, just teleporting to the other side) and therefore, Annie can't access the room herself.

Haven't posted here in ages, but I thought I should add to the discussion here: as far as the theory that Annie is jealous and has a crush on Kat goes... I have nothing against the pairing and think they potentially could have great chemistry, but I really, really hope that it's not the case here, and that it never becomes canonically explored. The reason being that it's pretty much impossible to have two leads become romantically involved without a significant amount of the story being devoted to couple stuff. It would completely change the dynamic and general tone of the story; just look at pretty much every tv show that ran on the unresolved sexual tension of its main characters for as long as it could, and then when they finally got together, the whole show changed-- usually for the worse! This is not to say that stories exploring relationships are inherently bad and that pieces of them lower the quality of the narrative. That's definitely not true, and they've been handled very well by Gunnerkrigg in the past! But in the current situation, bringing Annie in to complete a love triangle would seem very out of place and cheapen the story actually being told in Kat's relationship with Paz--two young girls exploring their sexuality, and the new set of challenges that come with that. And I really don't see Annie/Kat improving the story over the long term. (I might just be biased because I like to read Annie as ace/aro... I haven't read Annie in the Forest, so I don't know about her relationship with Kamlen, but she usually seems uninterested and pokes fun at Kat for her romantic life. Look at this weird thing my friend does! She thinks our teacher is hot! She kissed a bird one time! Wacky! I think it would be interesting for Annie to be panicking because of how happy Kat seems with Paz while she is the same age and has felt none of those desires. I highly doubt this will happen, though. :/)

This. GK is not a comic about relationships, if you want that go read something like Questionable Content (which seems to be going down all sorts of fanservice shipping rabbit holes recently). It is a story about science, and etherics, and mythology, and robots, and two girls hitting puberty and trying to make sense of the simmering tensions they've found themselves in the middle of. For Annie and Kat to get together would change the entire comic, they are best friends, why does that have to lead them to be a couple? That's never even been hinted at. Kat and Paz makes much more scope for story, bringing in a previously less seen character, allowing Kat to expand her personallity without having to do it all through Annie. IT makes much more story sense, and sense in general.

GK is not a comic about relationships Agreed. What I'm hoping is that Tom made this chapter to purge his fanbase of anyone who wasn't going to be cool with the fact that Kat was not straight as an arrow. It worked pretty well, but now we've got to get back to the main plot. What I'm hoping is that after this chapter we can put hormones in the backseat and let magic and science drive for a while. I've got nothing against shipping, but I don't want it to choke out the rest of the plot. Of course, I have faith that Tom knows exactly what he is doing. He's done okay thus far.

I think Kat & Paz may have a lot to do with the main plot. If our doomsday prophecy is true, then this can be an essential plot twist leading to it. I could also see Paz, who is so sympathetic towards animals, playing a "traitor" role in the end, leading to Court's and Kat's final defeat. Can someone confirm if the chapters are in chronological order?
I swear sometimes it seems that the chapters can stitch itself to a previous one.

The chapters run in chronological order, yes.
Annie in the Forest happens between chapters 31 and 32.

Stories usually proceed in chronological order and there's nothing to indicate otherwise with this comic with the exception of very clearly demarked flashbacks and the like.

Now seriously, give me a reason for not to kill you why Paz is sooooo terrible She tried to steal Kat from Annie. Hey, since you enjoy being a gimmick account, here is a fun new gimmick; if you ever make a post again with the words "Paz" "Kat" "terrible" or "Boxbot" again, you will be banned. This includes, but is not limited to, using any of these words in passing or legitimate uses of these words or character names. Edit: I encourage anyone who spots Intelligence using any of these words, or even alluding to them and trying to get around using them, to report him, in case I don't spot him myself. It's all part of the fun gimmick!

Or do you just primarily monitor the specific comic threads? I'd imagine watching all of them would be a lot of work!

Why is Tom's post count so high? I never noticed that I think we've generally established that there's some sort of admin-level control that allows for manipulation of postcounts.

Why is Tom's post count so high? I never noticed that 2^24 = 16777216, plus one. I don't know what the plus one is about. 24 bits looks like the mantisa for a floating point number. But why would the forum store posts count in float is beyond me. Casual google suggest that there is some problem when doing 1677216 + 1 as a floating number.

What I'm hoping is that after this chapter we can put hormones in the backseat and let magic and science drive for a while. Indeed. Though relationships are an important part of life, they are only a part. I'd like to think, that on the GC road trip, Magic and Science are our copilots. The rest are just passengers for interesting car talk. It wouldn't be as fun without them all, but I wouldn't want to take directions from them. Especially, Hormones. That guy can be a real jerk, sometimes.

GK is not a comic about relationships, I disagree. I would instead say GC is a comic about many things, and relationships are one of those things. The comic strikes me as a coming-of-age story, and dealing with your first romantic relationship(s) is a huge part of growing up for most people. But GC has never been mainly or exclusively about romantic relationships, and I don't see anything to suggest that's going to change in the near future. Remember: Kat had a week-long fling in chapter 13. The Court-Forest parley happened in chapter 14. Relationship drama appeared in Gunnerkrigg Court before Coyote did.

Casual google suggest that there is some problem when doing 1677216 + 1 as a floating number. Maybe it's some kind of messy attempt at counting from zero? Off-by-one-error? Or maybe there's an option to display it maxed out, and for good measure it displays max+1.
