I was already wondering last week if the reason Kat's experiment went FUBAR was because she was distracted (rather than Paz messing something up, for example). With today's strip, the ambiguity continues, although all the smoke and fried robo-wings could just be because it's a lot harder to grow a techno-organic being than it is to build an anti-grav generator. Kat messed up, she forgot to double check the voltage, current, and frequency settings of the experiment Either the voltage, current, or both was too high, and fried the bio-hybrid muscles. Paz didn't even know what Kat had planned. This. I just assumed from the dialogue that Kat was trying to be smooth with her switch flicking and wasn't being as thorough/careful as usual. Cue explosions. I'm a little confused by the couple of people I've seen (more on tumblr than here) thinking that Paz has some ulterior motive or is distracting Kat from her work on purpose. I could be completely wrong, but I just don't see that at all.

Ithink it's a mixture of people trying to over-think everything, plus people who don't like pazkat and are hoping it is sabotaged in the nastiest way possible.

I have it on good authority that Paz is a machine sent to distract Kat from fighting Abliests!

It was not worth it! She spent so much time working on it, and Paz ruined it. It's already bad enough she stole Kat from Annie. Oh, and Tom, recently in the comments, I have been (very poorly) impersonated. Something needs to be done.

When Fyodor Tyutchev once burned a batch of his poems by mistake — he had wanted to get rid of some useless papers — he consoled himself with the thought that »the Library of Alexandria also went down in flames«. I thought the Library was thrown into the Tigris? We're thinking of different libraries though. Definitely not the same library. Alexandria was in Egypt; the Tigris is in Iraq. They wouldn't have hauled stuff that far for the purpose of destroying it. (Today we do, but only certain things and we have vastly better transportation systems.)

Kat seems very nonchalant about losing all that work. Part of proper scientific method is recording your work in detail BEFORE you actually do it. (That way if things blow up in a way that prevents YOU from carrying on, someone else can still learn from your notes.) I wouldn't be surprised if the failed experiment was not properly recorded. But everything up until then, was. And the odds are that a fair portion of that several weeks was spent on dead ends, tweaking voltages or chemical mixes or whatever, and similar stuff that can be bypassed on a do-over.

So, uh... yeah. Robots. People talk about them as if they might disapprove of Paz getting in the way of Kat's work. While that's certainly a possibility... is Kat on a time table or something? Do the robots care to hurry her up? They don't exactly get old.

Personally I don't really think the robots are going to "do" anything about Paz.. it that's what the Angel wants, then I guess they'd leave her to that instead of getting on her bad side. And they (the seraphs specifically) have had it confirmed for them that Paz is friendly. Though Kat's phrasing in 1161 might point towards something different..? "while I'm working"

Kat was the one with her hands on the switch. Perhaps it could be argued that Paz made Kat do it, but either way I doubt the loss of a single specimen will set her back very far. As for "stealing Kat from Annie", I think you have misjudged Mrs. Carver's sexual preferences. Oh, and Tom, recently in the comments, I have been (very poorly) impersonated. Something needs to be done. Don't worry, a squadron of top men from the Internet Police will be along to assist you in no time. In the meantime please remain calm and go fix yourself a sandwich.

It might have taken her weeks to get to this point but, with a much better idea of what she's doing, she will probably be able to re-create the experiment in about a week (unless tissue regrowth is the critical path).

Another agree. "It was worth it!" - she got both a fresh slate and a makeout Kind of like solving a Rubik's cube.. the first few (dozen) times people have no clue what they're doing, but once it 'clicks' (or the booklet is memorized ), most people are able to do the seemingly complex thing with little thought.

We're a bit ahead of our usual schedule I think. Normally the comic threads don't derail until the afternoon (GMT) of the next day. It's not even 11 o'clock there yet. Slow down, people. We still have 21.5 hours to cover before the next comic.

I thought the troll post by Intelligence was making a very salient, if subtle dig, point.
There indeed have been many cases of people "impersonating" some semblence of intelligence in the comments since pazkat...
