This started peacefully. I just hope it's ends peacefully too. Yeah I hope it doesn't end with Paz and Kat throwing mice and robutts at each other That made me laugh. A lot. on second thought, I want to see that happen.

I wonder if we'll get to see Renard's reaction to these two if/after they tell Annie. Especially if he's in stuffed toy form, I can see him being..less than tactful.

+1 internets to anyone who can identify any of the machines in this comic! (Or whatever is being handed out these days; a cookie?) Actually, I just realized, I think there's only one type of machine in this shot; it's just variations on the same machine--aside from the massive numbers of drawers. I think it's a vertical turning lathe, or some variation on that theme, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts? It would make sense to have that, seeing as Kat is a roboticist; she needs to make lots of new parts! Also, my money's on this being a test of a new body for Robot! They're giant sewing machines.

Panel 1: * On the bench on the left, at or just past the near leg, is a bench vise.
* The machine on the right closest to the door, I suspect is a CNC carving machine.
* In the foreground, right side, is a drill press.
Panel 3: I'm guessing that will turn out to be a laser cutter.

I'm pretty sure he already knows, or suspects at least. He all but called her a lesbian here. I wouldn't be surprised if he's noticed they're suddenly spending a lot of time together.

Hm, he might have noticed Kat was hanging around Paz, yeah. Maybe just having it confirmed would be enough to get a reaction? Also I'm guessing there was a debate about this already, but maybe he was just implying Kat was watching Robot and she took it wrong? Alternate idea: If Paz doesn't know about Rey's condition, she first sees him in wolf form and enthusiastically tries to communicate. "What are you doing, child?"

That would be amusing, but there has been no apparent effort to conceal the fact that Reynardine can shapeshift and speak. Odds are that Paz has known for some time.

The only thing I'm really looking forwards to in this chapter is Paz's reaction to the Robo-Cult...

That would be the "Court" that grew from the Seed Bismuth, the "Court" that Jonathan supervises, or the "Court" that the Diego-robots' legacy maintains? (... or are those just organs of an organic whole "Court"?) The robots are servants of the Court, yes.

I believe Tom said once (back in "Sky Watcher and the Angel" when Kat's first lathe was getting delivered) that the Court just gives the students all the supplies they need. The Court must be RIDICULOUSLY rich, then. I just checked, and a low-price lathe of this size can run to $1500. Also, how do you reply to two previous posts and copy the text from both into your comment? Couldn't figure it out.

Also, how do you reply to two previous posts and copy the text from both into your comment? Couldn't figure it out. The court's a pretty big place, from what I recall they just have the machines sitting around old workshops or something. Heck, the place has a metric ton of robots milling about, I wouldn't be surprised if they had all sorts of expensive stuff just laying around. For the quoting, there's multiple things one can do, each more obscure than the next : - quote replies in multiple tabs and copy the quote bbcode to one reply box - click the gear and choose "select" on the posts you want to quote then "reply" at the bottom of the page - some sort of alt-click thing that, quite frankly, makes little to no sense but seems to work anyways Alternate idea: If Paz doesn't know about Rey's condition, she first sees him in wolf form and enthusiastically tries to communicate. "What are you doing, child?" That would be amusing, but there has been no apparent effort to conceal the fact that Reynardine can shapeshift and speak. Odds are that Paz has known for some time. I don't know how long Paz has been hanging around the two, but yeah there's a chance she (and/or people in general) knows by now. I'm guessing the court's trying/tried to keep it under wraps, but they don't seem too concerned about it. Basically it's just that - an amusing idea.

Testing if it was, indeed, Annie's blood? Or, perhaps, something to do with the blinker stone and her fire powers. Who knows. But we haven't seen that yet, and it seems like something Kat would be very interested in.

My guess is something to do with the robot that Kat is growing- inspired of course by ANIMALS which is Paz's speciality

The Court must be RIDICULOUSLY rich, then. I just checked, and a low-price lathe of this size can run to $1500. Remember that all the Court's students are exceptional in some manner. They are brought in to be tested on and/or to perform tests, themselves. Getting a lathe to a student is peanuts if she uses it to produce something that's going to be worth millions by the end of her tenure.

I suppose that's true Plus this is the only school in the Gunnerverse (as far as we know) that has its primary research program dedicated to magic etheric sciences. Considering human nature, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that they haven't made trade agreements with companies and governments from the outside world.
