Are we sure thats Kat in the image? Look at the shape of the profile and compare to the most recent picture of Kat I could find thats also in profile; www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1182 (panel 3) The slope of the forehead and the shape of the nose are actually fairly different to here. |

A while ago (October 1st) Tom wrote on his twitter: "I googled "kissing" #ohmy".  He also mentioned looking at wasps before so maybe in this chapter Kat and Paz will consider their relationship more seriously. |

You know, noses aside, given the shape of their respective hair/bangs, I'm gonna draw for the inside straight and guess it's Smitty and Parley. Example: Panel 6 |

So it's gonna be a chapter about the forum? ... actually, I had to google what thread means again, it's such an annoying word, not just because it has multiple meaning in itself, but I also keep mixing it with threat and treat. :s That comment makes me think it's likely that English is not your native language. If that's correct (or even if it isn't), you may not want to read The Chaos. Particularly not out loud. |

I think it's Smitty and Parley, AND Kat and Paz. Maybe Tom wanted us to go insane with all this, there's probably a thread in this chapter, that goes through both their relationships. So... there's at least 3 pairs (not counting Paz & Matt) of folk stuck together, one of whom got shaggy hair, and another level cut? A tendency, however. |

I also think of the red thread / string of fate. That could go a few different ways. They could be fated, and their 'thread' gets 'twisted' but never breaks and they keep together, or they could ... not be meant to be, maybe that really isn't Kat... definitely looks like her.
I can't decide if they look either like they're unhappy or nervously about to kiss or what. Kind of reminds me of awkwardly scooting closer towards my boyfriend and staring at each other both of us nervous like "maybe we should kiss but maybe he doesn't want to..." when we had our first kiss.

It's close enough, especially when you consider that I don't think any other character has a really similar haircut. You'll notice that when Tom is drawing Kat in anything but profile, her nose is perfectly round; I'm assuming that's what he's trying to show here. Plus, the bunsen burner as the chapter icon also suggests Kat. I feel like this is the natural way the story should go, as well. |
