Is there a little humanoid figure in there, or are my eyes deceiving me? You mean in that tower? I think it's a bell. Haha! No, I mean the Seed Bismuth itself.

Why couldn't it be Annie? Isn't the color Annie's color? It's Annie informing SB how it lives on on the other side. My interpretation of the "you" in "you still grow strong" was a reference to humanity growing strong, not to the seed, which would make no sense coming from Annie. It didn't occur to me that it may be her saying the the seed is still growing across the divide. Well, think of the crystal metaphor that was alluded to on the previous page. A seed crystal is what you drop into a solution of whatever it is you want to crystallize, to get the process started. If you leave the crystal to grow for a while, then come back and break it in half, you can still take one of the fragments and it'll keep growing (provided that there's still enough raw material available in solution), even if it's not the piece that the "original" is in. (Also, think about how crystallization works--drawing free substance out of its surroundings and attaching it onto an ordered scaffold--and what the Court does with ether.) So, I think the "you still grow strong" is referring to the Court as an extension of the Seed Bismuth, though they aren't connected now.

So... is the court still growing? They might have some explaining to do when they turn Earth into Couresant

They paved paradise and put up a gunnerkrigg court.

Is there a little humanoid figure in there, or are my eyes deceiving me? If you pull the picture into a graphic editing program and play with the brightness and contrast, you can see a figure in the bright area where the Seed Bismuth is hovering. I tilted my laptop screen a bit and that was enough to reveal it, actually, but not all monitors will affect it in that way.

The Seed Bismuth looks more like a fairy to me. If this is really the Seed then it might have split into two, one side that's alive in the Forest and the other that just automatically grows buildings in the Court. I keep thinking that Ysengrin will find Annie alone and she won't really know for sure if she met the Seed.

Anyone else creeped out by the way the SB's slowly hovering closer to Annie? Also alarming that they've been pulled into the ether and it still looks the same. Quickly fiddled up this for people without image editing tools:

Quickly fiddled up this for people without image editing tools: Hm, getting a better look at it, the SB kind of reminds me of the fairies from Pan's Labyrinth!

He makes me think of someone who wants ALL the endings in a choose-your-own-adventure book. You mean everyone

Hey, you can die in some of those. Dying's no biggie when you're a god, but for a lowly human, well... Anyone else creeped out by the way the SB's slowly hovering closer to Annie? Also alarming that they've been pulled into the ether and it still looks the same. I don't think they're in the ether as much as it's leaking through, or maybe SB is made of ether. Annie's cut looks to me like it isn't fully there and her top still has a bit of color, though it's hard to tell with the lighting.

Annie's gonna steal the SB and bring it to Kat, who will use its powers to grow robots.

I find it hilarious that in Coyote's version of the story, he used his "mighty paw to score the earth" to create the divide, whereas in SB's version of the story, Coyote ungracefully chomped his way through the earth. He's Coyote. Maybe he viciously savaged the landscape, and each speaker only 'remembers' the part that sounds better to them- 'Handsome Lord Coyote made the Annan Waters with nothing more than his little toes, how wonderful!' VS 'The beastly Coyote from the Forest stripped the Court from the Forest like flesh from bone, how awful!' Edit: Looking at page 489, Coyote's teeth look worn and cracked. This is officially my head canon.

Is there a little humanoid figure in there, or are my eyes deceiving me? Then my eyes are deceiving me as well. In the first panel of 1248 I think I see a face with a beak. In the latest strip I see a humanoid figure with lots of long wings, in both second and third panel. It is easier to see in the last panel, where Annie's scar is also starting to show.

Also alarming that they've been pulled into the ether and it still looks the same. I interpreted that we had been pulled into the ether on this page, when the Seed Bismuth first transitioned from 'will of the wisp' to 'crystal fairy' or whatever, and that the latter was its etheric form. However, you have a point: I hadn't noticed that her scar hadn't appeared yet on the next page. Maybe they've transitioned more slowly than Annie usually does with her blinker stone. I kind of like the edited picture's depiction of Annie better. She looks kind of tan there Also, did anyone else notice that the panel borders are kind of being eroded on today's page? I wonder what that symbolizes...

I figured I might as well show up in this thread since I haven't in a while.
Seems to me like ALOT is going on at the moment in Gunnerkrigg, will the threads weave together so we can play with the plot-yarn? (Uh, shitty metaphor) My point is, I think we'll get to see a part of the actual plot now. Still alot of mysteries left though.
