The house could be either Anja/Donnie's or it could be Eggers. I suspect all the teachers live in houses like that Not Eglamore's house either, it seems. Windows are in a very different style than his. Of course, the Court is a salad of architecture, but not on such a small scale.

Doesn't look like a library/other public building. Looks close enough to the Donlan's that I'd say it's someone's home. Probably Eggers' or Jones' from what we have to go on right now, possibly both, as someone already pointed out. I like the idea that he's out to steal something, rather than visit someone. He still has the lock-picks after all. But what and from whom and why? What even are his motivations at this point? Well that's it isn't it... other than being fond of Annie because of who she is, what are his motivations? Or at least, which ones can he or could he act upon. What do we know about what he likes or believes in? - He still loves Surma - He cares a lot about Annie - He does miss his body and the forest but not enough to leave Annie - He doesn't trust Coyote, especially after the robot/shadow incident and having abandoned him while being imprisoned (I think the likely reason he doesn't want to go back to the forest) - He actively dislikes Ysengrin - He has guilt and regret about some of his past actions - He actively dislikes Eggers for obvious reasons; he is disdainful of Anthony; he looks down on people like Diego - He likes humans, and particularly likes human women - It's probably been awhile since he's hung out with another fox or for that matter a vixen - He is by nature mischievous, sly, cunning, playful, but not generally malevolent or sociopathic - He has at least two sides to his nature - like Hermes/Mercury - his serious, caring "wolf body" nature and his flippant, flirtatious trickster "toy body" nature - He is proud - He is cultured (but also loves Nancy Drew!) He's currently in his wolf body, so whatever he's off to must be of some sort of serious nature. Love, caring, guilt, regret, contemplation... all of these things could come into play. Anyway clearly it's too early to say.

Hey! There *are* trees in the Court! Just really spindly nonleafy ones.
I wonder where that little archway under the steps go?
I suspect that's the Donlan Residence, or maybe the Stone's (as others have covered before me). Perhaps this is just a chapter about Renard, and what he's like now. An adventure to the library, a chance encounter with a stranger or an acquaintance from long ago..

He's currently in his wolf body, so whatever he's off to must be of some sort of serious nature. Well, it might just be that his wolf body is more conducive to walking around, while the toy body is better for being carried around in Annie's bag. The tone of the chapter does seem pretty serious so far, though.

Looks like Renard is visiting Silent Hill.

We've just had the relatively light Medium and Chickcharney/Kat-Paz chapters after the Great Secret and Stone serious chapters, so I guess we are in for a serious one now. I'm still going for Jones, she seems like the most friendly towards him of all the staff, or at least the one who considers him as more of an interest rather than a threat.

Not sure if I'd call Changes a lighthearted chapter... Robot was kidnapped & imprisoned, the Seraphs declared Kat officially the angel, the Court tried screwing Annie over, which let to her becoming the forest medium instead (which might have been Coyote's plan all along)...

I'm betting the house (not mine, that one)on Rey going to visit Eggers. I don't think he'd be so hesitant to visit Jones, not unless he was going to talk about something deathly serious. The only other possibility that jumps to mind is the headmaster.

Could be another library. My school has multiple libraries, for different subjects, and they're all fairly diverse in design. That's probably a stretch though. Except we know that the old books and the science and technology literature are in the same building. They might have additional technical archives, but Renard's not likely to be going to them.

The only other possibility that jumps to mind is the headmaster. Headmaster seems unlikely, he'd have a larger residence than the rest of the staff surely? Of course the only other teacher we've really met is Dr Disaster, which would make for a very different change of pace to the chapter...

Headmaster would be plausible if he was indeed trying to break in somewhere.
He could be trying to find information about what exactly the Court is trying to accomplish with the Ether stations. He was quite shocked and appalled at their existence and purpose.
Or what precisely were the reasons to choose Smitty instead of Annie as the new medium.

I get a vague feeling this might have something to do with Annie's father.

From someone he knows and who previouly demonstrated such knowledge, that is... Jack! Who as a Court's student in at least 2-nd generation may live with his parents there too. And with whom Renard have relations only slightly better than with Eggers. Hey, it's a good hypothesis!

Isn't wild and random speculation the primary activity on these boards? Of course it is, and there's nothing wrong with that. Doesn't stop me from being a smartypants, though. No, wild and random speculation is the SECOND activity on this board. The primary activity is being a smartypants.

Ok, my theory:
He's going to speak with Eggers, whatever they talk about leads to a fight and Rey gets "injured", requiring him to be sewn back up

Perhaps he'll try to mend things with Jimmy Jims?

I really wonder if the needles support my earlier theory that Renard has or is going to upgrade himself by adding stuff inside his doll-body...
