Well. That's that then.
...OR IS IT? (Yes, it is)

Bobby said he wrote it. He didn't say whether the sentiments were his or if he was writing on behalf of someone else. I can only assume that that kind if ambiguity is intentional on Toms part.
Next week we see Kat leaving, paz asking bobby what happened and bobby telling her Kat returned the letter after asking who wrote it, wih pas then assuming Kat rejected her.
SPARKING BITTER RESENTMENT THAT LEADS TO THE WAR BETWEEN THE SCIENCE OF MICE AND THE SCIENCE OF ROBOTS!
WITH HILARIOUS CONSEQUENCES!!!?!?!!!

But, how Did Kat know which robot wrote it?
More importantly, what if Bobby has a thing for punishment and insists that she take action for his 'appliance failure'?
Bad fanfics ahoy.

In all seriousness this time. If bobby wrote it on behalf of someone else then he could be the catalyst, trying to bring two people together.
Bobby thinks Kat is the angel, then what do you do for your gods? You try and please them. if he has overheard rumours, or heard paz talk about kat potentially liking her, he would feel it is his duty to try and please his angel and catalyse a relationship.
The fact that he is a robot and understands elegant prose more than teenage angst-ridden bad poetry may back this up.

Kat knows robots. She could probably see hints in the letter of Bobbys personality.
I find the theory of Paz thinking Kat wrote the letter to Bobby believable. It's probably rather well known that Kat works a lot with robots. Now she has gone a little to far. If Kat's parents or the court leadership finds out, maybe Kat isn't allowed into her workshop anymore. Which the robot angel-cult probably wont like.
Do the court robots operate under Asimov's laws for robots (Never harm a human, always obey a human, secure own existence)?

Bobby repeats something Paz said...? Like when she asked Bobby to write this letter for Kat...? Also my theory. Orrrrr, maybe he wrote it for her without Paz knowing, to try to set them up.

It just doesn't seem very logical... If any robot was going to write Kat a love letter it doesn't seem like Bobby would be very high on the list (if she's been avoiding Paz she probably hasn't seen him for a long while either). Still waiting to be trolled.

Huh, that was simple. I wonder if this is meant to be a commentary of an average teenage relationship? Huge drama, insignificant payoff.
Anyway, I hope that the chapter continues to be Kat-centric. She's been out of the limelight for way too long. She should at least talk with Paz while she's there.

I wonder what The Butt Zone thinks of all of this... Honestly, not much -The usual comments about lesbians -A single solitary comment about Kat not being gay -A few comments about liking nerdy tomboys -A discussion about why Zimmy finds Kat so scary -And a few comments about how Paz will now think Kat secretly loves robots

What do you suppose Kat was going to finish that sentence with?
"It's against the..." rules? natural order?

Maybe this won't lead to romance, but will lead to Kat getting more interested in robot rights? She seems very uncomfortable telling Bobby that he's not allowed to be in love with her... Or maybe this will push her to show people that robots aren't inferior by pushing onward with her plans to build an android?? Kat building an android has kind of been hinted at before, and she already seems to be on that track...

Alright, wild speculation time about upcoming pages. This wil be a Katalyst for all of the other robots to have doubts about their angel, as she doesn't accept their love. And then stuff will happen.

I approve of the anti-robot marriage message. It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and EVE!

Kat building an android has kind of been hinted at before, and she already seems to be on that track... I'm hoping it's this. Kat doesn't seem to like that she has to tell him no this way, as opposed to a simple "I don't like you like that." It's always awkward turning someone you like platonically down; it must feel traitorous to turn them down by quoting regulations that deny their ability to think or feel. As to how she knew it was Bobby, maybe the letter was covered in pigeon poop or referenced the mice or something. There could be clues.

I agree. It leaves to many questions open. How did Kat know it was Bobby, out of all the robots? Why did Bobby just tell her this, and apologize without a fuss? Why isn't he calling her "Angel" anymore? What were his motives, taking into account the last two questions? Obviously it wasn't signed, since Annie read it but didn't know who it was from. But what gave Kat the clue to trace it back to Bobby? A "robotic fingerprint" of some sort, something Kat could analyze forensically? But why, after sending an anonymous letter, did he admit to sending it so readily, so calmly? "Robots never lie" might actually be true, but the way he admitted and then apologized... Here's what I think: I think that the letter is actually from Robot, but that Bobby's somehow involved. Maybe Robot asked Bobby to write it for him, because Bobby is good at writing. Maybe Bobby knew it was wrong and initially refused, but Robot pressed the issue. Maybe Robot even threatened him. Maybe that's why he isn't calling Kat "angel" any more. But whatever the case, he's deliberately avoiding telling Kat about it by taking the "blame" upon himself.

As to how she knew it was Bobby, maybe the letter was covered in pigeon poop I hadn't thought of that, and I think it's bloody brilliant. GC has always had a transhumanist vibe, while stressing the humanism. I think Constructed Intelligence rights would be an awesome plot point. But, I'm betting other things are afoot with this chapter. At least for now, Poor Bobby. A slave to his oilmones.

Supposition: The High Priest of Katism (Robot) wrote the letter, Bobby knows it, and is taking the hit for his spiritual leader. Well doesn't Robot see Annie as his mum and annie as his aunt, as well as being friends?

Huge drama, insignificant payoff. The "huge drama" is mostly an illusion created by all the panicked speculation in the forum, and we don't know the payoff yet.
