So what is it about, could you retell it?

So what is it about, could you retell it? Well, I wouldn't want to spoil everything, but it starts directly where Chapter 31 ended. It tells of how Annie settles in with the Anwyn, the "tree-elves" and of her troubles of fitting in. It's not very long, I'm afraid; it stops right when the story starts to kick off. I shouldn't be too surprised, though, it's just the first part, after all.

Well, you could try using dirty-yellow font colour (f0f000) to make sure that a person who does not want to read spoiler will not read it. There is some spoiler tag on this forum, but, unfortunately, I do not happen to know it. Now, could you please tell precisely what this comic was about? What difficulties did she face with? I hope there was no toilet jokes in this... book, although they would be surprisingly logical. I was speaking these words with Delgado's voice in my head while I was writing them.

Haha, the yellow colour seems to be working better for me. I couldn't resist clicking on the spoiler tags, but reading the yellow font is quite hard to do. (I'm just gonna avoid this thread from now on...)

But I really don't want to spoil too much. You're going to read it yourself, eventually, and the amount of actual plot is so small that I can't go much further than the vague synopsis I already gave, or I'd be explaining things almost panel to panel.
Anyway, re-reading it, it turns out that I was actually just slightly wrong about the "living trees"-bit. The Anwyn apparently make their relatively modern-looking houses by growing the supporting beams out of living tree trunks that they somehow make grow in straight angles. They also wear rather modern-looking hoodies that are probably made from unusual materials.

"This video contains content from Screen Media Ventures, LLC, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." Capitalist faggots. I think "Corporatist" is closer to the word you're looking for. Pretty much everybody is a capitalist now, whether they realize they're a part of the market or not. Also I am uncertain as to whether the people at Screen Media Ventures LLC. are gay or not, and think that it would be unwise to conjecture without meeting them first, and that if such a meeting ever did take place, "faggots" would probably not be a word that entered the conversation.

Got around to reading Annie in the Forest today. My thoughts: 1) For some reason, I had it in my head that this would be a single-volume, cohesive book. I forgot that Tom is a huge cocktease. 2) I'm trying to place what culture the Anwyn are supposed to be based off of. I get some southeastern United States redneck vibes from them, but the speech patterns aren't quite there for that. Perhaps a British version of hick culture out there that I'm not acquainted with? 3) Annie is a baby. Putting on make-up in the forest and asking Ysengrin and Coyote to fix her problems for her. Baaaaaby. 4) Khepi is "ripe" with child. What sort of delivery must the Anwyn have?? 5) I had the same thoughts as Antimony when Kamlen came into her bedroom, which was the absolute last thing I expected from Tom. Not sure what the significance of the gesture actually is; I'm interested to see if anything else comes of that. 6) Though the artwork is black and white, I adore it. One of my favorite things about the forest is how lush and saturated with color it is, especially in contrast with the drabness of the court. So when I learned this would be a black-and-white production, I had my doubts. Tom adapts his art to work in 2-bit color. There are some beautiful panels and some beautiful pages. Though I still would love to see some of them colored. :3 7) Copyright 2014??

I too have read this comic as of today. I avoided it for 4 hours in order to savor its existence, but in the end it took less than a half an hour for me to accidentally read all of it. The art is excellent, I am pleased. I was surprised at how hominid the anwyn are. For some reason I had always imagined the forest people as closer to animals. As it stands, the forest seems more similar to the court than I expected, though perhaps with more of a communal lifestyle as opposed to an academic one.
I like all of the social interactions, especially the part where Annie asks for help. Having been in the foreigner with no friends situation before, I can sympathize with wanting someone you know to come help iron out your relations.
Also, the symbol on their flag is apparently unidentified. I doubt it is of European origin because it uses bubble-lines. I am inclined to believe Tom made the symbol of the anwyn up, though I don't know if there are any inspirations.
Also, I simply had to re-check how Annie returned to the Court. She is wearing the cloth that Kamlen gave her until at least page 851, and no later than page 854 (after which I don't think it has re-appeared).
Also: Kamlen IS the one Annie mentioned Kat might like.
Anyway, can't wait until the second installment!

My copy arrived in the mail yesterday.
I think that "Gunnerkrigg Court" stories often work better in this format, when you can read one (or the first instalment) at once, rather than one page every two or three days. It's a story, rather than a collection of gag strips with the punchline in the last panel, though its "web serialization" here may at times give the impression of the latter (particularly in the early pages of a chapter, when Tom's setting up the story).

I agree. It's a completely different experience to go back and read the most recently finished chapters after going through them day by day and page by page with the forum.

This really should be in spoilers, but I don't know how to do the format for that (in the form of invisible letters that become visible when you click on something), so:
*SPOILERS*
The third-from-last page (or next-to-next-to-last page) makes it less likely that Annie's asexual.
Pity, since I liked the notion of her having no interest in or inclination towards romance, but I suppose that such a change would have to get in, since one of the main threads of the story is her coming out of her shell.
* SPOILERS END *

So I'm sure I'm not the first to realize this, but the mask from Zimmy's visions is now very clearly Annie's makeup (shown to be given to her by Jones in AitF and partially in the vision). I know it was implied before, but now there is no doubt.
