As far as I can tell, the fairies apparently leave the rational parts of their brains behind when going etheric. Hence why they are so childlike and silly right now. They seem just as childlike and silly when not etheric to me.
This, and the contrast between panels six and seven gave me a crazy idea. Given the fairies typical inability to use or remember peoples names, perhaps Annie is the 'red who gets a name', in that the fairies start calling her Antimony, as opposed to Lady Tubsalot and such. Probably not, but it's an interesting notion. You know, that is actually an interesting theory you know and the more I think about it the more it seems plausible. Tom does like to throw curve-balls and other unexpected plot at us after all.
Its name sounds like one of those Lovecraft monsters. After a quick google of the name and parts of the name the only thing somewhat linked in is: in Hebrew "shogeg" means "was mistaken" So maybe Gol-Shogeg is a romanisation of something from Hebrew?

This whole thing reminds me of that extremely funny page of DnD session characters' famous last words. With such classics as "Be gone, creature of evil!", "I don't know what a Tarasque is, but I'm going to beat it!" or "Come on, he is an elf, elves don't lie" etc.
So, the new addition could be *Opens up summoning book on the Gol-Shogeg page* "hehehe!"
And it does sound awfully like a Lovecraft monster.
P.S.: She could also be the sadistic Dungeon Master opening the Monster Manual. "hehehe"

So maybe Gol-Shogeg is a romanisation of something from Hebrew? Or, possibly it is Lovecraftian in inspiration. And ninja'd.

I was thinking lovecraftian seems to obvious for tom to do. It's tom, only about 10% of our guesses are ever right.

Also of note: "oh, here we go again " from Red. perhaps Annie is the 'red who gets a name', in that the fairies start calling her Antimony, as opposed to Lady Tubsalot and such. Ha, quite possibly, too. But maybe Red finally tells off Blue? Its name sounds like one of those Lovecraft monsters. Aye... After a quick google of the name and parts of the name the only thing somewhat linked in is: in Hebrew "shogeg" means "was mistaken" So maybe Gol-Shogeg is a romanisation of something from Hebrew? ...that is, basically he joke here was "Lovecraftian - and Mistaken"? I was thinking lovecraftian seems to obvious for tom to do. It's tom, only about 10% of our guesses are ever right. Unless it's twisted inside out?

I guess being capacious and vindictive is a staple of the Fae. Also, it's a mere coincidence, but Teacher Lady looks quite similar to my girlfriend, pink hair and all.

In Hebrew "gol" means bowl, and "b'shogeg" means blameless or accidental, as in a crime you didn't mean to commit because you didn't know there was a rule against it. Neither of those sound particularly like a slug monster to me, though, so we may be going for something else entirely

Okay, now I have a new theory - Blue's behaviour... <snip> Doesn't she look like Annie in these pages? <snip> This, and the contrast between panels six and seven gave me a crazy idea. Given the fairies typical inability to use or remember peoples names, perhaps Annie is the 'red who gets a name', in that the fairies start calling her Antimony, as opposed to Lady Tubsalot and such. Probably not, but it's an interesting notion. Hasn't happened yet, and i don't really think so.

I'm just wondering what sort of idiot would give the fairies open access to The Necronomicon.

Since Annie called it a monster I don't think this Gol-shogeg is an old friend. I think Annie will be able to handle whatever it is with her powers and Blue will be disappointed. Or Blue might go more crazy and summon something really dangerous.
Maybe she woke up the Teacher because she can put the monster back in the book?

Maybe Annie really doesn't know what a Gol-shogeg is and Blue is showing her up about it.
As far as whats going to happen, Reds reaction shows that Blue has done this kind of thing before and she acts like it's no big deal. Or Blue has done it before and had it blow up in her face in some fashion, probably enough times for Red to basically roll her eyes about it.
Heres a funny quote from the comments: "Hmmm, if it sounds like a flu an orc would catch, that's generally a good indicator that you don't want to be: summoning it, taming it, chasing it, riding it, or in fact coming anywhere near it."

I don't know if the teacher is just a good idea when you summon something like that or necessary but I suspect, from Blue's point of view, even if they class need the teacher to be safe, it shows that Annie can't do everything.

If it reminds me anything, that's Slayers. The parts where the local firehead became afraid of slugs thanks to her sister, and Naga tried to be mean (but was too distracted by her own narcissism). In other news, Tom knows how to liven guestbook up! ;D

I'm sorry, but with "Bowl" and "Accidental", I keep expecting "movement" If one of those things showed up in a classroom that way, I imagine there'd be a few accidental bowl movements...
