Jack's right about the baggage, and frankly right to stay away until Antimony grows up a little. But I wonder how much he's really interested in Zimmy?

"Dad, I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, Zimmy." "Well, at least you didn't fall for Surma's stupid daughter. Man, she was such a cu-"

Hahaha. We the fans are a little blinded by our fandom. It's hard for us to see it, but Annie really does have a lot of emotional baggage dragging her around.

I think it would be interesting if now that Annie isn't the stoic she used to be, she starts saying what she REALLY thinks about the others, maybe she has always thought of Zimmy as a deranged psychopath?

He may not be mad, and he may be right about a lot of what he just said, but he's still a self-righteous bastard for saying it the way he did.

Annie just tried to pull a trick ten times as dirty on him. Airing some cruel truths is a pretty mild retaliation.

It's possible, but in previous chapters Annie did seem to be genuinely concerned for Zimmy. I think she wanted to attack Jack by attacking Zimmy.

u mad, carver? And yeah, baggage. She can't enjoy her night out because she can't stop trying to put one over on Jack. Annie's usually very polite, but as soon as she's angry she'll say anything if it'll hurt. Speaking of which, I wonder what she'll try next since nothing is working. No one's ever resisted her before. Mort and Renard were pushovers. I mean, Renard fought back, but Jack's just impervious to the attack in the first place.

Actually, Jack, now that you bring it up, I don't think that meeting would go very well.

Something about Jack's and Annie's interaction reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes when Hobbes (or Calvin's father) is picking on Calvin. Clearly he is saying all this to goad her after being rejected (and it's well-deserved—Annie needs to grow up).

Heh. If he thinks Carver has baggage then I wonder what he think's Zimmie has.

I just realized that the second to last panel is a premium setup for things to turn really ugly. Let's hope he has more sense than to continue with "At least I still have parents." Although, one could interpret it in a way that this part is already implied.

Wow, this was entertaining AND a long time coming for Annie. That last bit could go either way. It could make her breakdown or send her into an absolute fury.

Yeah, Jack mentioning his parents could get pretty bad for any number of reasons, including what Annie knows about Jack's father.

That was enjoyable. And deserved. Oh yeah. He's trolling the hell out of her and she fell for it hook line and sinker. She's really upset that he doesn't like like her and that he would like Zimmy more than her (which I am now sure is not true, but Annie has completely fallen for it). Well done Jack for turning the tables here and hopefully waking Annie up to herself that bit more. This is totally how teenagers act who kinda like each other. Very true to life ;D (really!)

It's possible, but in previous chapters Annie did seem to be genuinely concerned for Zimmy. I think she wanted to attack Jack by attacking Zimmy. It's not just that. Ever since she entered the forest it's like her personality did a complete 180. She's become WAYYYY more haughty, she's quicker to make remarks, she's also become a bit more sillier in some aspects. She used to be so reserved and quiet watching everyone before remarking unless someone pushes her over the edge like with Reynardine. It feels weird to me that she changed soooo much over the summer from being in the forest, but then again I've seen people in real life do the same thing. Still... I feel her personality is still lost somewhere in the forest. Not physically of course, but metaphorically.

Gerdammit, I was coming here to post something insightful like this. Edit: Courtesy of /co/. Ah, beaten to it twice! May as well contribute this though: Also guys clearly the twist in this chapter is that it is not only a haven for awesome kat faces, but also for awesome annie faces. On that note, I can't wait to see what Kat's reaction to all this will be! Or Annie's, judging by that last panel.

This has the potential to go badly enough that Annie would have been better off staying silent and emotionally stunted.

Ahh, that felt good. I was really hoping Annie wasn't gonna be able to get away with it just because 'of what she had to deal with' as so many main characters of series do.
GC's one of my favorite comics just because of how well it's written.

That's what makes this whole page hilarious. He's already decided what he wants, and now he's just joking around because she's just being an overdramatic bitch after her silly head game went and backfired on her.
